Samsung SyncMaster 900NF owners

Whats the absolute maximum resolution you can run with this monitor? And what video card are you using?

How about model number? That's a good place to start. Model number on Samsung site is: PG19NSBU/ADC

What model number is on the back of your monitor?

But if u click the "Product Brochure" PDF link on LXi's (Samsung's) site, it gives a *different* max rez. Click & see (says: 1920x1440 @73Hz). That is not right. Shouldn't be two diff sets of specs for same monitor.

Again, if u click the "User Manual" link on that page, it shows "Recommended Timing": of 1280x1024 @85Hz (see page 12 of 35).

Looks like Samsung is confused .. or playing the 'spec-n-switch' game.

I am about to purchase this monitor and am very interested in responses from 900NF owners. Thanks,

Ben

Have lost faith in Samsung website specs.

Wanna see somebody who (actually) owns the monitor say, "I have the monitor & am running it right now at 2045x1536 at XX Hz refresh.

[Am I making my case for being careful about posting info for products which you don't (actually) own/have/use? 🙂 ]

Why is this such a big deal anyway? Most people arent gonna use more than 1600x1200, and its still a great monitor regardless whatever max res it has, nothing will change that.

If you don't know the answer to that question, then you shouldn't be pimping a monitor you don't (actually) own.

Let's wait to see how many folks here (you said there were many) can run at the quoted spec'ed rez of 2048x1536 (I'll take *any* refresh at this point) b4 determining if anybody's throwing away money. Maybe they feel like they were misled and ripped off by Samsung. I know I would.

I think I should as Samsung directly. Its pointless waiting here for the owners to reply since I dont think anyone actually runs anything above 1600x1200. Notice NaughtyusMaximus said the res went to the 2000s in Win2k?

Even if they don't actually run above 1600x1200, only takes a minute to change rez & see if the monitor will do it. Then they could check the refresh, and we'd know (FOR SURE) that it's at least posible.

Naughty said "I *think*", which means, "I'm not sure." I'm waiting for him to get back.

Again, I would take the word of someone who actually has the monitior sitting on their desk, in front of them, over the word of somebody on the phone at Samsung - who has already demonstated that they're confused about the issue.

Hmm, I have a voodoo banshee so I can't try but otherwise I would.

Where is the guy who works at Samsung who sometimes visits the AT forums?

I do remember him saying in that 130 post thread that it could do 1800x1440 with reports of some users going higher.

Did he say it could do 1800x1440 because he actually tested it, or cuz he read it somewhere?

Working at Samsung could make him biased, wouldn't you agree?

is the 900nf the one with the diamondtron tube. that's the one nec makes right? so it would be a apeture grill monitor, no?

But not better than someone with the monitor sitting on the desk in front of them.

Surely there has to be at least *one* person who can clarify for us.

Eagle, what's the model number on your unit?

DiamondTron/DiamondTron NF are made by Mitsubishi, which did make a joint venture with NEC. It's Aperture Grille.

Radboy: Can you find a bunch of people running their Iiyama on 1940x1440? Tell ya what its mighty hard because everyone runs on different video card, OS and other limiting factors to the monitor's full potential.

It's 1920x1440 (not 1940), and YES! - that's what I've been trying to tell you - I have the thing sitting right here in front of me. And I can indeed run it at 1920x1440 (the quoted spec on Iiyama's site).

I'm not asking for a bunch. All I want is *one*.

Heck maybe Naughty tried for 2048 and fried his monitor cuz it wasn't built to handle those specs .. 🙂 (j/k'ing)

Everyone runs on different video card, OS and other limiting factors to the monitor's full potential. Not everyone has a Matrox G400 you know. The banshee, I have one and I know its not capable of going up to 2048x1536.

<<I'm not asking for a bunch. All I want is *one*.>>

If you want one, NaughtyusMaximus' post should explain it.

Most ppl here run GeForce cards, or Radeon cards. Either can handle 2048, right?

This is a gaming hardware forum, one of the most heavily traffic'ed on the web. Nobody (here) can run a Samsung monitor at 2048x1536?
