And it's obvious a 1920X1080 monitor won't be able to display in 1920X1200 in fullscreen without any black edges, the aspect ratio is different. That would be a physical impossibility

e

Uh, you got it backasswards. The 1920X1200 monitors display 1920X1080 (which is a TV resolution by the way, not PC) with black bars top and bottom. The Full HD monitors (1920X1080) will not display 1920X1200 at all, unless of course you go non-native which is a serious no-no with LCD's.

Uhh you're right, got mixed up there
But what I was trying to point out was that saying 1920X1080 cannot display 1920X1200 is like saying a 1680X1050 monitor will not do 1920X1200
Captain obvious to the rescueeeeeeee

And if you wanna get technical, the term HD is a TV term to begin with
There's so many different resolutions on a monitor words like HD wont hold much meaning unless you don't know how to read the resolution ratings

Seems simple enough to adjust drivers for video cards to provide a 1920x1080 output to drive towards standardization. Wouldn't it help bring the PC into the living room?

That being said, I'm waiting for the next wave of price wars in the 32" 1080 Tv segment, figuring i'd like something that renders PC activity a little better in the LR...Also leaves me with a pretty nice desktop monitor longer term (Yes, on a big desk).
