Samsung sued over exploding washing machines

I own many samsung products: old dlp tv (gave to in laws- still works great), samsung front loader washing machine and dryer, and samsung phones. They all have been great.

Recent news have not been good, they have to pull it together. Especially with their note, I read yesterday a replacement note exploded also.

our Samsung front-loader has been great so far. They've had a rough run but I still believe in them.

And you thought WWII was over. They were just retooling and now they are blowing us up one IED at a time.

Which side were you on?

Well now that you bring it up I am planning to take the DNA test. Hoping to find some African blood, some Jewish blood, and/or at least 1/64 American Indian blood. Reparations, holocaust cash, and a stake in a casino.

Tired of holding myself down!

I've never liked Samsung. I've always felt the majority of their stuff is kind of gimmicky like phones that had really good screens but batteries that died too quickly or camera's with incredible megapixel ratings but would literally fall apart after a year.
They seem to be obsessed with looks and one great feature but ignore everything else.

My opinion is completely opposite. Most everything they make for the most part is really good quality. I have a couple Samsung TV's that work great, a Samsung phone that is phenomenal in fit, finish, and useability including battery life, and a Gear S2 smart watch that I abuse daily and it keeps working. Also own a Samsung front load washing machine that works great as well. I did have a screen problem with my Galaxy S7 Edge, but swapped it out for a new one and it's working great. I like the ability to use my phone while I'm chilling in the hot tub in the morning or late at night by myself and not worry if it drops in the water or gets wet.
I'm not sure how a phone with a really good screen is gimmicky, but if it had a poor screen would it be less gimmicky?

I am willing to bet a good majority of every company out there has had one recall or another since their IPO.

My experience with Samsung has not been great.

A LCD TV had 2 separate issues - 1 resulted in Samsung sending someone to fix it because of how widespread it was (think they got sued for it), and another required a solution that we found on the web. Both of these probably happened within 3 years of purchase. With the fixes it's still running strong though (8+ years now)

A fridge that we inherited from the prior owners of our house had an issue that means that it stops cooling after about 12 hours, unless the unit is unplugged and replugged in (I guess the plug being easily accessible gave away that the prior people were probably using that method to keep it going). It was out of warranty, but thankfully I was able to get it fixed by replacing a few parts myself. After the fix, it is functioning well.

So overall their stuff works and can last a long time, but certain bad components in their products seem to be a recurring theme. It's definitely a brand that I tend to avoid when making new purchases.

confirmed at lunch - my new washer is affected. Now I just have to sit back, wait for the explosion, then retire early in style...

Does it actually explode or just spin out of control? Maybe their response will be "you're loading it wrong". 😛 I knew top loaders could do this... if you throw stuff in it like a brick, but never considered top loaders being able to do it too, but it kinda makes sense. Something might be causing everything to shift to one side or something.
