Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB cloning

I have an older SSD and just got a 500gb one. Whats the best way to clone it? Can I use the samsung cloning software? Do I need any special cables? Or would it be easier just to reinstall windows 7?

If there's nothing wrong with the old SSD and it's smaller, you can quickly and easily do a direct disk-to-disk clone using something like dd (a linux utility, if you have a bootable liveCD) or clonezilla (a bootable thing).

Then just boot from the new SSD and use Disk Management to expand the partition afterwards.

(This is what I did when I upgraded from my old 90GB SSD to my current 250GB one.)

i used to really dislike samsung's data migration software, until i used it to clone my OS drive to a 950 PRO - got to say i was impressed. Really simple GUI - if you try it be sure to hit the "+" button to add all the partitions to the clone task

Ya, the included software is fine.
