Samsung SDI develops world's slimmest CRT digital TV display

Put "girls" in the summary to attract more people to the thread. Just the mention of "girls", even if they are unattractive, will attract hordes of AT'ers. Also, cool!

Link's not working for me, but I found this:

http://www.engadget.com/entry/5855386863117274/

Looks good, the major concern I have though is geometry issues.

Previous short neck CRT's haven't been up to par with their full size counterparts, this takes things even further.

I'll wait until we get some quality reviews from the HT community.

If they managed to do it, this could rock.

I've been waiting for thin CRT's for quite some time now. I'm looking forwards to seeing them in person.

i wonder if they will make these into monitor formats? couple 19" thin CRTs on the desk would be nice. especially with DVI ports. yay being able to change resolutions!

No kidding. My friend Justin (toekramp) on ATOT has a 22" NEC CRT and the picture quality is amazing. Way way way better than my Samsung LCDs.

That's really nice.

I don't care what anyone says, CRTs aren't dead yet. The flat 21 inch I use at work says so. 😛

CRTs rock.

I want a high end video card with native BNC outputs (instead of D-SUB). Or even a DVI connector with a BNC Breakout to let us take advantage of high end 21/22" CRTs with BNC inputs.

They're not ugly.

Once a coworker told me something prophetic. He says when you're like 40, all young girls look cute. :Q

One on the left looks cute to me.
It disturbs me how narrow minded you guys are to consider everyone has the same tastes as you. :disgust:

Wow, Samsung is on fire for the past 3 years in the digital display market and this will be a nice addition to their lineup.

Last gasp for CRT technology. I hope they're able to produce these in bigger sizes. It'll be a sad day if analog tech dies before digital's black levels reach these levels.

true. but we do definetly need something like this with the way small lcd tvs are being priced. u walk into a showroom and these tiny lcd tvs are just insanely expensive. picture isn't awesome either. mostly a thing to buy for show, most people aren't really constrained to a slim unit because of space, its mostly looks. last i read the lcd units aren't selling well either, but thats no surprise. most would settle for a reasonably priced slim crt if it had all the picture quality advantages of crt🙂
