Samsung SCH-T300 w/ Telus Mobility OR Nokia 3360 w/ Rogers AT&T?

I own the Nokia 3390 before w/ Fido, but now uses the SCH-T300 w/ Telus... 3390 is essential the same as the 3360...

The main reason I switched was becuz Fido's service sucks @ss...

But I like the T300 better than the Nokia becuz you dont have to keypad lock the phone everytime u put it in your pocket (it got annoying after a while), and the battery on the T300 lasts really really long (for my normal use, I only need to re-charge the T300 every 4-5 days, while Nokia is every other day)... The screen is also much better than Nokia's...

Also one thing about the nokia, the antenna is internal and on the back of the phone (above the battery)... if u put the phone face up on a table top, the antenna is between the table top and the phone... I find u have to stand the phone up to get the best reception (again, this may just be the crappy Fido network)...

the 3360 is a fun phone to have, cuz u can download ringtones and have wallpapers... but if you dont care about those, the T300 would be a better choice... It feels more solid than the 3390, which feels like a toy...

If you dont count the antenna on the T300, it is the same size as the 3360... T300 is a little thinner as well...

<< Neither. Get something GSM like Voicestream so you can get an Ericsson T68 🙂 >>

You have to remember he's in Ontario and we dont get Voicestream in Canada...

But Rogers recently switched to GSM... my friend is using his Siemens S-40 with Rogers now...

I travel/hike/camp a lot, and the GSM coverage is pretty spotty as we speak. I want a dual/tri-mode TDMA phone so I can roll over to analog coverage if need be.

Show me a GSM phone that will roll over to analog when out of GSM service territory, and you have a customer. 🙂

Uh, isn't the Samsung, CDMA?
I'd go for the Samsung if you want coverage, but the Nokia/Rogers if you want a superior phone, superior urban service/quality, and possibly a more flexible contract. Although I only have experience with Rogers, and have loved them so far. $20/month for 350 minutes is all I need, and dead cheap at that.

Yep, Telus is still on CDMA... the Samsung is a tri-band CDMA phone...

I dont know about Ontario, but over here in Vancouver Telus does have better coverage than Rogers...

BCYL,

thanks for the tips regarding the dif's btw the 3360 and 3390. currently i'm using fido's prepaid service, which to me is hella cheaper than a monthly plan. i have no problems with service. i don't use my phone much these days, there's no system fee, and it includes caller id (something which you'd have to pay extra for using the monthly plans--which seems backwards). anyhow, i first started out with bell years ago, then went to clearnet/telus when they started. then fido introduced better incentives so i went with them, then back to clearnet, now i'm back with fido, lol! i love nokia phones, and i have a 5190 w/ a face plate that i bought in the states so it looks really neat. then i saw pics of the 3390 and thought it was sweet...so i'm just now debating if i should buy one.

for those interested in ring tones and icons i recommend bolt blue it's now a pay service but nonetheless a good site for canadians.

Mobile Elements would be another place to get ringtones and wallpaper for your cell phones... it's completely free as well... Works for Canadian carriers as well (like fido, telus, etc)...

caramel,

Yeah, Fido's services is much cheaper than the others, but it's only good for the Vancouver area... once you get outside of Vancouver (eg. outside Aldergrove), Fido has absolutely no service at all... Some of my friends are having trouble even in Port Coquitlam...

I like to take short trips to like Harrison or Cultus Lake in the summer time, so losing my cell phone service when I take these trips are not acceptable (what if my car breaks down on my way there?)... That's the main reason I switched from Fido back to Telus... If Fido have better coverage I would gladly stay with them because of their pricing...
