Samsung S3 S Voice - Has anyone gotten it to work?

I was wondering if anyone has gotten the S3 S voice thing to work. Mine is hosed at the moment. They want me to do a factory reset on the phone. I will need to back up my contacts first. It is going to reset everything that I spent the last two days trying to get setup like I want. My phone says network error everytime I activate the blue tooth calling or manually enter S Voice.

One thing I don't like is that it won't let you turn off the missed events notification eventhough there is a box under headset mode that it won't let you uncheck. So everytime you try to make a call it tells you about all the calls you missed and I am sure other useless BS you don't want to deal with when you just want to make a frigging call. If I want the stupid B--ch to tell me about missed calls I will ask it. It does this every call not just the first one.

Anyone else had problems?

S voice has worked just fine for me OOTB. I played with it for a couple of days but I just dont have a use for it. I will test it again to see if I can replicate your issues.

S-voice won't work unless you have the data plan on. It has to talk to the net in order to work which does not make sense. It should work if it is getting data from the cell network or from WiFi. The Samsung tech support guy did not know why it would not work off of either data source. I think you can turn off the voice update crap by changing settings in driving mode but I have not tried it yet.

Do yourself a favor and disable it. It will make your home button much more responsive. When I had my 4s, Siri was terrible and just a gimmick so I never used it. The SG3 equivalent is no different and just as useless.

Yeah, this is true. I disabled mine just to have a faster home option.

I tried it briefly and found it to be beyond worthless. If I want to search for something using voice recognition, I'll use Google. It gives better results and my GS3 came with a widget on the home screen for it (as if it knew that S Voice was going to be useless... hmmmm).

Same here- tried it on my SGS3 and wasn't impressed. It's just redundant on Android. Google voice commands or third party apps like Jeannie work just as well. And all of them (Siri included) are about 10% useful, 90% gimmick.

I just want to be able to make a frigging phone call without having to mess with the phone. I go it to function but it is worse than useless so far. It won't work with my blue tooth at all. When I speak into the phone is picks up my voice but can't pickup something like "Jeff Cell" it gives me a list of everyone named Jeff in my phone list. I also tried Jeff Lastnameonly. Jeff Lastname Cell etc and it always dropped the last word. The only blue tooth system that work was on a Nokia phone I had a few years back. You had to teach it each name on the phone list but you were limited due to memory. It worked 90% of the time. The newer phone that had you train it with a bunch of random phrases did not work worth crap. It did work better than S-voice. I am ok with the training of each contact but it won't let me do that. Is there an app to replace S-voice that works? I am not getting voice feedback so it is not hands free. It does not find the number and instead of saying I don't understand on the speaker it prints it on the screen. My old phones at least said calling Jeff Cell and if it was not write you could end the call.

According to Samsung tech support you can't use S-voice with bluetooth to make voice activated calls using or any other factory app to do this. So what is the point of all this voice input crap if you can't use it to dial a phone number? I am not sure the lady was telling me the truth. I think they were just blowing me off.
