Huh, who would've thunk.

Apple still retains overall satisfaction it seems but interesting how the GS3 and Note 2 peaks higher.

I really like my Note 2, it's flipping awesome. I also have an iP5 I need to sell one of these days, and it has better build quality and materials, but I guess I'd rather have a very good phablet than a piece of jewelery/phone with such a small screen.

These customer satisfaction things are a damn joke, on 1 end you have Apple owners who automatically praise every thing Apple releases as the greatest ever. And on the other you have Samsung owners who rave about plastic-y toy feeling phones.

I'd be interested to see how those figures change. As the ACSI mentions, the GS4 didn't factor into this study due to timing. It could be mixed: in some ways the GS4 is a definite improvement, but there's also been a general sense of disappointment in how evolutionary it is and the emphasis on half-functioning gimmicks over real improvements.

For Apple, the next year of this study depends on how well iOS 7 fares (it's starting to shape up well) and whether the iPhone 5S/whatever-it's-called pans out. I'm not expecting a bigger screen until 2014, maybe, but good value for money could go a long way.

I love my Galaxy S3, even though it's a year old and there are better phones out there now.

I certainly couldn't say that about my last two phones (an iPhone 3G and a Droid X after that), as both of them got bad software "upgrades" that made the phones slow and unstable. I was counting down the days of my 2 year cell phone contract on both of those pieces of junk.

Doesn't surprise me at all. I was very satisfied with my SGS3 (other than it's awkward roundish looks) and am even more satisfied with my Note2 which is nearly the perfect smartphone.

Most everyone I know with an Galaxy S3/4 or Note 2 is very happy with their phones, or plans to upgrade to an even better phone like the Note 3.

Meanwhile, just about every iPhone user with less than a 5 that I know is ready to jump ship to a larger Android device as the 5 hasn't been a big enough upgrade to them. Most people I know with an iPhone 5 are pretty satisfied with it though, but I still know one or two that will probably go Android unless Apple comes out with a larger phone.

Apple's really missing the boat by not offering enough variety, but then, that's Apple.

Samsung smartphones have never felt toy-like to me. Plasticky yes (duh... they're made out of plastic), buy toy-ish? No.

Toys are also made out of metal too, you know?

What looks more toy-like are the cheap iPhones that Apple plans on selling later this year.

Love my S4, loved my S2. Only downside is Touchwiz sucks but whatever. Replaceable batteries FTW.

I haven't seen them, and you haven't either. I have seen what might be a prototype of the back casing. And if it was legit, it's going to end up feeling like a toy just like Samsung phones. A shame Apple would go this route, but I guess you do what you gotta do. I find it hilarious you called the iPhone 5c "cheap" when from the video, as far as plastic phones go, it looks to no less of quality than a Samsung phone. Personally I agree with you, but the same applies to the Galaxy & Note phones. I can't comprehend how you can call the iPhone 5c cheap but not say the same thing about Samsung phones.

weird...

The funny thing is even when iPhones were made of plastic like the 3GS, etc. it still felt mighty fine. Definitely better than the N95 I was carrying back then. Sure i had a great phone, but all that talk of a wobbly slider? I showed my friends how Apple does a great job even with a plastic build.

Well with Samsung's phones they feel cheap and light. I guess some people like that, and that's fine, but coupled with the GS3 and GS4's hideous looks, I can see why some are turning away.

Personally I like the Moto X's new look. It may be plastic, but it looks high end build with a nice shape overall. I think Samsung has some work to do next year in terms of industrial design to compete against HTC and Moto. You can't keep riding this whole Galaxy hype wave and expect maintain #1.

I personally like a phone that is light in the hand, bonus points for the Samsung Flip covers that allow users to change the look of their phones (I have 2 and kind of love my pink version :) When I look at the SG4 all I see is that big, beautiful screen. Having the focus of a device be the screen isn't a bad way to go IMHI.

Congrats to Samsung. I'm a bit surprised as Apple had a huge lead in customer satisfaction.

I think its gotten to the point where people can't tell the difference between a 4, 4S, and 5.

The iPhone 5C's construction looks more advance than Samsung's devices from the leaks. The rear shell on the 5C is one continuous piece. It also doesn't have faux metal plastic.

I would never buy a 5C over the metal iPhone though.

Love my Note 2. Best phone I have owned(I have owned several iphone & various androids)
Definitely doesn't feel cheap in hand. Has a nice weight to it. Touchwiz is very mature on it now. Anyone that says it sucks should provide reasons. It is unobtrusive and adds lots of value in software. Not bloated or slows down the phone. To each their own.
I can't wait to see what the Note 3 offers. If it has ir blaster I am sold. The only thing I am missing on the Note 2. I am one of the ones that uses the s-pen almost daily.

Stop losing sleep Samsung is number 1 for once

Shouldn't you be in that Samsung benchmark cheating thread defending them?

I loved my SG3 and now my Note 2 is welded to my hand. I've been really happy with Samsung phones. Looking forward to the Note 3.

I'd love my phones too if they were given to me for free...:p

Agreed. Nothing about my Note 2 feels cheap to me and I came from an iPhone 4S. They are both well made phones, just different materials. The important thing for me is that the Note 2 is simply a superior phone in every aspect.

Here's the thing, when all phones are the same price, then they get judged solely on their merits. I've had several review units in my hands & feel I do a good job of presenting pros & cons to the average (non-tech user) including fully admitting my bias towards android devices with larger screens. The phone that stays in my hand at the end of the day is a phone I love & my last 3 personal devices have been made by Samsung.

Btw, they aren't all "free" I bit the bullet & went on contract to get the SG3, I can & do regularly buy devices just like everybody else.

Yeah, but you're not getting all phones. You're getting phones from a few companies. Samsung throws everything in their phones so I can see many geek loving them. But the awful screens are the dealbreakers for me. For those that can get pass the terrible screens, I can understand why they are #1 in customer satisfaction.

I have never, ever, never, for the life of me, heard a real live person say, damn, that Note 2(GS4, GS3, whatever) screen looks terrible. Quite the opposite in fact.

At the time I purchased my SG3 the iphone 5 had just been released. I own a Mac & an ipad which I also purchased, I have no beef or hatred of Apple or ios for that matter. I put both phones side by side, there was no contest, for my purposes the SG3 won. I wanted to love iphone but the lack of screen real estate was a total deal breaker for me. I am very happy with the screen quality on current Note 2, no, it's not 1080p but it's clear, bright & crisp, more importantly I can actually read the darn screen & multitask. Pinching & zooming all day to be able to read something gets old really quick.

Me either, most people see me using my Note 2 and respond by saying things like "oh wow, what is that? Can I see it?" they all comment on the crisp, bright LARGE screen :)

So you have it because of the larger screen? I can definitely understand that. But all the GS3/4s and GNs I've seen have had terrible tints. Maybe I just have better, more sensitive, eyes. I've never worn glasses in my life so they're not inferior. Anyway, enjoy your phones. SONY has an Xperia Z Ultra that the ladies should love (it too has a large screen). But, SONY has been selling it in the 3rd world since people there love convergence devices. I hope they bring it here...
