Samsung pc-2700

Is the Samsung pc-2700 any good for overclocking or just good in general. I can get a 256mb cl 2.5 chip for $67 and was wondering if it was worth it for price and quality...it's from www.ebccomputers.com because they're local and all.

Samsung PC2700 is one of the best overclocking ram there is. In some reviews it even bested the more expensive Corsair PC2700.

But make sure the samsung memory is Samsung Memeory chip AND samsung PCB. The word Samsung should be silked screened on the PCB. If it's not Samsung on Samsung PCB it will most likely not overclock as well as samsung on samsung. See pic. It's to the right side of the memory.

I agree 100%. My Samsung PC-2700 256MB stick has taken up to 166MHz of FSB on my Epox board (speed settings maxed out!) with absolutely no problems. I'm sure it can take more, but I'm not brave enough to go higher in FSB. 🙁 😉

I have a Samsung 256mb stick Original. I have it at 2-3-3-6 @ 2.7v. Aggressive timings cause my system to lock up on my Asus p4s333.

I have an Epox 4SDA+ and was disappointed that my 1.6a would only overclock reliably to 2.24 Ghz (140 Bus) this meant the fastest I could run my Samsung 2700 was 175 Mhz (350 DDR).

Epox just released a new Bios, that allows for manually setting the memory multiplier,
so I'm now running my Samsung 2700 at 208.5 Mhz (417 DDR) @ 2.7 volts 😀

Had to back the CPU off to a 139 Mhz bus. :frown: But it's still faster overall.

thanks, I'm going to check out my friend's cause he bought some a week ago. If it's the good stuff then I'll have to go pick up a stick(even though I'm really low on money and have no job at teh moment), hehe. I have an Epox 8k7a right now with pc2100 but i'm always looking to upgrade and the price seems right(there will be no incompatibility running at at pc2100 speeds right?
