Great phone!!!! About time it's on sale.

However, I really don't get why people are so blah about WinMo. Most manufacturers now mask all the WinMo visibilities and it's all custom UI. HTC does such a wonderful job it doesn't even matter it's a WinMo phone. Plus, there's plenty of apps for WinMo phones too... just right behind iPhone. I know the US has gotten its share of crap WinMo phones like Moto stuff and LG crap, but Samsung and HTC do a great job.

im happy enough with my omnia 1 to play with one and possibly upgrade when my ne2 comes around. been following the buzz about this phone for a while, looks pretty cool so far. i was really surprised there was literally no advertising for it at all tho.

I've heard too many horror stories about WinMo, and a lot of horror stories about the Omnia 1. Verizon was giving the thing away for free for a while, still dirt cheap now.

Engadget has an unboxing and first impressions video up.

Looks cool, but I'm happy with my Droid.

Have you read reviews about phones that have the skin job on them? Winmo still shows through. In many reviews of the HD2 they said it was great but it crashed a lot and when you needed to change some things it still went to Winmo and many of the apps are still Winmo. All th reviews said the hardware is awesome but Winmo is holding back the phone. I had 2 Winmo phones and won't go back. I wanted so much to like them and I loved how customizable they were with all the stuff you could download but they were buggy as hell.

Completely agree. You can try to overlay Sense UI and do whatever you can to mask the underlying WinMo, but it's still nowhere as close as having a completely seamless experience where you don't have to deal with WinMo trying to show through.

I've also had a pair of WinMo phones and while they were relatively enjoyable while I had them, they also weren't without issues. They were fine if not extremely boring out of the box, but once I started customizing the phone the way I wanted, it'd require a soft reset at least once or twice a week and a battery pull several times a month because of crashes and lockups. I'm infinitely happier with my Droid now. I'll take another look when WM7 comes out, but with the Droid I can honestly say I've never been happier with a phone.
