Samsung np550 vs lenovo y500

i am planning to buy a laptop for my studies and i'll be doing a little bit of gaming. I looked into the lenovo y500 and the Samsung np550p5c-s05in.
I am from India. Here the new lenovo y500 comes with gt750m but a 720p display, which is pretty bad. On the other hand the samsung np550p5c-s05in comes with gt650m and resolution of 1600x900. Which is better among these?

Will samsung launch the same model with gt750m in a month or will lenovo increase their native resolution?

Is the y500 not available with the 1080p screen where you are? It is here in the states at least.
 
look up Y510p...though perhaps that is a designation reserved for the united states. The 500 and 400s have been updated and renumbered. also, I believe the Y580 series might still be available. When you say a little bit of gaming, will you be using two graphics cards in SLI or are you OK with one moderately powered card?

What games are you playing?
 
The y510p and other y500 models are not available in India right now. The y500 with a gt650m and 1080p was available until a month ago. But after the 750m the display has been cut down to 720p. The weird thing in India is there is no SLI model available nor there are any GN36 accessories graphics (ultra bay) available.
I just want to know whether
1. the samsung np550 will come with a 750m graphics and 1600x900 display
2. A new y500 with same gt750m but with a better display

will be launched any time in the next 4 weeks?
 
y400 user here. i LOVE it. it does get out. i have the option for 650m SLI.. also have i7 and 7200rpm 750gb HD.

plays dayz fine, far cry 3 fine, bf3, etc. total desktop replacement for me(coming from q9550 sli 560ti's).

What would be awesome would be the ability to put a top-end GPU in the expansion slot (like a Radeon 7970M or GTX 780M) as opposed with going multi-GPU. This both alleviates difficulties associated with multi-GPUs, and eliminates Enduro/Optimus as a concern as you just flat out go IGP when the GPU is removed.

Halo16, I was wondering what did you finally buy?

I too am looking for a capable laptop. I have similar requirements as yours.

My requirements in decreasing order of priority are as follows:

Ability to do heavy multitasking quickly > ease of use (good keyboard preferably back lit and good pad) > built quality > casual gaming > great screen > battery > after sale support

Things I don't care about are : weight, looks, dimensions, touch screen, optical drive

Any suggestions ?
