Samsung Note 20 now or wait for S22?

Thinking I should upgrade from my Samsung Note 9,as it's soon going to no longer receive updates.

Should I look at a Note 20,or wait for the S22?

(I do use the S-pen a lot.)

Gonna second the "wait for the S22 Ultra" recommendation. The Note 20 is over a year old at this point; since it seems like the S22U will replace the Note, you might as well get significantly newer hardware.

Thanks.I'll have to wait until the S22 Ultra drops in price, and I'm planning on trading in my Note 9 when I finally buy the S22 Ultra.

(So,that I can get back hopefully most of the $530 I spent on my Note 9.)

Wouldn't the money I saved by trading in my Note 9..be able to offset some of the high cost of buying the S22 Ultra?

The trade-in will soften the blow. Not sure if you'll get the (rather good) trade-in values Samsung is offering for the Note 20 series right now, but it'll help.

You might not have to wait too long for a price drop. I've noticed Samsung has an odd strategy where there's only several weeks where its flagship phones are priced the way Samsung claims they are: either you get a good freebie by pre-ordering (like Galaxy Buds) or you wait a month or two for the discounts to start.

Ended up finding a Samsung Note 20 5G, on of all places, my cell phone provider's web site.

(Consumer Cellular).

Couldn't wait for the S22 to come out, as my Note 9 is giving me trouble.
(The battery is struggling to hold a charge..I used to go 2 days between charges, now I struggle to make it thru 1 day without rapid battery draining.)

Decided to go with their payment plan($40/month for 24 months.)

Easier to pay for,at least right now...than trying to pay nearly $1000 all at once.

i think a new battery is around 20$ 🙂 putting it in might be the issue with those little ribbon cables, im looking to buy my mom a new phone kinda leaning toward something giant like the ultra or note or iphone 13 pro max bla

New Galaxy Note 20 is up and running.

So much quicker and smoother than my old Note 9.

(the computer equivalent would probably be upgrading from a mechanical hard drive to a SSD.)

I'm thinking of getting the S22U. I can get the 512gb model for 249 if I trade in my Flip 3 and one of my many ipads.

Samsung extends software support for a small number of "flagship" devices to 5 years:

The previous policy of 4 years of security updates covered down to mid-range devices, so I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung eventually extends to 5 years for more models. Now if only Samsung could offer an official battery replacement service, for a reasonable fee.

Got an $800 trade in for my note 20U and another $150 for one of my many iPad airs laying around. Got the S22 ultra 512gb in black with free buds pro and a case for 349. Stoked.

That is quite the upgrade! Curious to know how well it fares, especially with the camera upgrades.

Glad I got my Note 20 5G when I did.

My Note 9 was giving me trouble, and I didn't have the patience to wait for the S22 Ultra.

Should I eventually get a S22 Ultra when the price drops?

(Or is there not enough of a difference between the Note 20,and the S22 Ultra.)

I'm on a 2-year payment plan with Consumer Cellular to pay off my Note 20.

If it's a regular Note 20 and not the Ultra, maybe... you'll be taking steps up beyond just generational improvements. With that said, if the Note 20 is fast enough and otherwise does what you need, don't feel pressured to have the latest and greatest this year. You can always snag an S23 Ultra next year.

Yeah, can't wait. I will miss my Note 20U but this phone is pretty much the same but with slightly better cameras. Also, I still have my S10+ Ultra 5G and I am never getting rid of that. It was Samsung's last phone with a headphone jack and the last one that works with the Gear VR. Its a classic.

I'm hanging on to my Galaxy S10+ for the same reason, mostly the last phone to support Gear VR. Just make sure not to upgrade to Android 12 on it. Other than the annoying Bixby button, I really like the look and feel of this phone too. One of my favorites for sure.

S22 drops on the 29th and I'm so very tempted to preorder one now that my fold3 is acting up. I just filed a care + claim for green pixels on the inside screen and they have to review it before they will do anything else. Care + is supposed to next day a replacement phone.

Yea, my flip 3 is is peeling its screen cover on the left fold point. Don't know if its covered under the standard warranty and I am real tempted just to peel this crap off. I never should have gotten it. Feels great in pocket but not worth the stress.

Care+ is run by Asurion who approved my request and is shipping a replacement via UPS. Still don't know whether it's coming tomorrow or Monday. Honestly, I'm still considering ordering a S22 ultra to keep as a spare phone.

And the Bixby button can be remapped. Mine is set to the camera.

Is there an adapter so that I can add an SD card to my Note 20 5G?

(I do miss the SD card slot built-in on my Note 9.)

128 GB of storage just isn't enough sometimes.

(Don't want to wear out my phone too quickly.)

every new model is going to be better than the other, just need to figure out the urge and usage of that model and make your decision.

Decided to upgrade to the S22 Ultra 256GB.

Update: new Samsung S22 Ultra 256 GB is arriving tomorrow, April 8th,2022.
Ordered direct from Samsung's website.

I'm trading in my Note 20 128GB,and my Note 9 128GB when the S22 Ultra arrives.
(After I have the S22 imaged over with Samsung's SmartSwitch software.)

With the double trade-in of my Note 20 and Note 9...the total cost of my upcoming S22 Ultra drops to $489 shipped.

I got my S22 Ultra 512gb for 349 after I traded my Note 20 Ultra 5G and some old ipad I had laying around. Plus got the bitch-bud pros and a folio case. Ordered first day available and I received on 02/21/2022
