Eh....

I'll refute that.

Samsung monitors (CRTs at least) come in two varieties, ShadowMask and Aperture Grille.

Sony only has Aperture Grille monitors. These use the Sony Trinitron tube.

I think the Samsung Aperture Grille monitors use the Diamondtron tube by Mitsubishi.

I looked at two,one was a Samsung and the other was a Viewsonic.Maybe it was the Viewsonic that he was talking about.

How are the Phillips 109b monitors like?

The CRTs, for example 955DF or 753DF, use the Mitsubishi DynaFlat tube I think. You won't find a Samsung CRT with an FD Trinitron tube.

The LCDs, which I'm currently learning about, also seem to have no similar characteristics. I think sony uses a Philips/LG Electronics screen (someone said that in another thread) and the hearsay is that Samsung uses an MVA or PVA screen.

The Viewsonic uses the "Sonic"tron manufactured by Mitsubishi, which makes it another Diamondtron I think :p

Salesmen at BB are not well known for their technical knowledge. That guy doesn't have a clue.

Philips 109b is OK but I like the Samsung's better.
