Just installed Magician 4.0 on my Windows 8 system. Says that it cannot secure erase the SSD w/in Windows and wants me to create a bootable USB or CD/DVD. I created the bootable USB on a SD card in a USB card reader. I booted it up, but the display is all corrupt and nothing is readable.

I redid the bootable USB option with a flash drive and have the same issue. Haven't tried a bootable CD/DVD since I don't have an optical drive.

Has anyone else experienced this?
The very same thing happened to me with that worthless utility. If you have a UEFI bios go into it and use the secure erase function if it has one.

Read what i wrote on your other thread, nobody can help you, except samsung support:
"If it is hardware encrypted you need to reset the PSID on the Drive to use it again. Without this step there is no other way to use it again. You can revert PSID if you have the proper tool from the manufacturer. Or the manufacturer can do it for you, so you have to contact Support either way.
The tool is named PSIDrevert. But dont load it from any internet source, it is not freely available so downloads may likely be virus infected."

By the way, the Secure Erase Utility does not work out of the box with NVidia Graphic Cards. You need to use internal Intel or AMD. Only then the display is properly readable. With NVidia you need the SEGUI0-Workaround.

As mentioned before, use parted magic. Very useful tool.

If that does not work, contact Samsung support, as directed.

Also, please do not bump ancient threads.
