I bought this TV a couple of months ago from another online merchant for around $2500. At the time, BestBuy had it priced at $3200. Wish I'd waited.

damn, i was ready to get the sceptre 37" 1080p for 1299. do you think this is $400 better? obviously the contrast is much better, features seem similar and the warranty is the same. i plan on alot of gaming. they don't list Qam though.

i gotta replace this 14 y/o crt 😛

wheres the westy at for that $$ ?

thanks man, i forgot about that thread. no tuner in that model though.

maybe i'll just get the sceptre at costco and return it if its too small.

depends entirely on what you're going to use it for. If you want a thin flat-panel LCD, this is the best TV for the money. It's worse than a DLPTV for color/contrast, but better for no replacement bulbs. It's good for size and weight. Best LCD flat-panel in this price range.

Depends entirely on your needs. You can get a 1080p DLP for around the same price

The contrast on the westy seems kinda low... 1000:1? Is that sufficient? Other lcd's have like 3000:1...

can anyone verify the 1080P?

if you research newegg, the specs:

Input Video Compatibility TV system:

American NTSC standard color
ATSC
480i/480p/720p/1080i

newegg does say 1080P. 2 places

Recommended Resolution 1920 x 1080

and

R/F input: 2 (air/cable)
Component video input (Y,Pb,Pr)
(480i/480p/720p/1080i/1080p): 2

they just forgot to put it in the area u mentioned. It is a 1080P display,

Probably one of the best LCD's out there. I've had mine for a few months now. Can't recommend it enough.

BTW- Samsung's Anynet system ROCKS if you can get a Samsung receiver to go with it.

I've yet to see any DLP that beats an LCD or Plasma for color and contrast.

it will display 1080p from other sources, but the built-in ATSC tuner cannot accept 1080p signals?

No comparison Bud.
I own a 42W2, and I feel really lucky my Westy is flawless....
Check other owners, they're swapping their Westy left & right, trying to find one with less bugs.

If Samsung was available for this price when I bought my Westy, I'd buy the Samsung instead. There's no competition!
