Where is there 1080p material? There certainly isn't any being broadcast, or even close to being broadcast.

It will be a long time, from what I've heard, before any significant amount of 1080p movies will be out.

Other than the really recent CGI stuff, I hardly think that older movies that get remastered in HD DVD will look much different in 1080i or 1080p.

I'm always ready to be wrong about this though....that would be a great excuse to convince the wife that we need a new 1080p set. 😉
 
Don't know much about this TV in particular, but don't let anyone talk you into passing up a good deal to wait out 1080p. As of today, 1080p is hype. It's broadcast future is nonexistent, and prerecorded content will continue to be elusive. Yes, 1080p content may look great on that imager, but the other 99.99% of content out there doesn't.

Resolution is the most overrated spec of modern displays. Conversely, scaler quality may be the most underrated.
