3 partitions for me:

~250gb for main OS (WinXP Professional SP3)
~100gb for secondary OS (Windows 7 beta currently)

remaining space is my data storage partition (mp3, pics, videos...)

I just leave one big partition. However, I typically have a Raptor for boot/OS/apps and some big drive for just data.

They are as reliable as any, and are pretty quiet.

Supposedly you jumper the drive for SATA 150 and it works fine.

I have had one DOA Samsung hdd but worse with Seagate and WD.
I like Samsungs better than Seagate or WD because of their stellar reliability and their quietness.
This is a gr8 deal.

tempted, but i read on newegg reviews that you get no warranty from samsung b/c it's oem. call them with a dead driver and they'll tell you to call whoever sold you your computer.

Not accurate. The Samsung RMA form is online. The phone people often don't have a clue.

600GB for Windows
250GB for backup (music, essentials, movies, etc.)
Any remaining space is left for linux partitions.

I had issues with the 750GB F1 with my 650i with lockups shortly after accessing the disk. The workaround I found in the Newegg reviews was to disable NCQ from device manager, which worked. This would be a bit of a problem though if you planned to boot from this disk. The DOS utility from Samsung's site may allow you to disable NCQ from there but I'm not sure about that.

the online RMA form doesnt work. i've tried it, and cant get it to work. i had to call them directly, and they referred me to another place that does the RMA for samsung.
