Whoa, now we're talking. It's short, sweet, and dramatic, yet the official Samsung Galaxy Tab teaser video still manages to reveal a number of features previously only rumored. We've got Android 2.2 running on a 7-inch display, video calling, Swype, HD movie playback, "Flash support," GPS navigation, an e-reader, and plenty more. Now get ready to be teased mercilessly by the video embedded after the break -- it's as close as you'll get before the official reveal in Berlin (at IFA) on September 2nd. Yeah, we'll be there.

Don't much care for swype myself, but I'm sure it can be gotten ride of easily enough.

Unless than work it out with carriers in the US that data will be optional like apple and its 3g Ipad. its gonna bomb.

I doubt buying thing thing off contract will be cheap either. Probably as much as the wifi only ipad.

I seriously don't understand why companies and users these days are obsessed with having a 3g radio in nearly everything. especially users, don't you know carriers will more than likely force you to pay for data.

Yeah, I was just think that oddly enough, Apple & ATT actually got it right on the iPad data plan(s), I like the Galaxy Tab, but there's no way in hell I'll go on contract for data for it, and since it appears to be a phone as well, I'm pretty sure it will be only available on contract or insanely expensive.

I'd love for someone in the tablet market to really shake up the price structure with a quality tablet, but I suspect they'll go the way of smartphones, and require a data contract and charge like crazy otherwise.

I'd prefer a 10in device personally, that would pretty much rule out the need for a 3G data plan because it'd be too large to really require it. WiFi would be an absolute necessity though.

Edit - I actually have one of the cheap 7in Chinese Android tablets on order. Shipping in a timely fashion isn't one of their virtues though.

Going to be interesting to see what the sweet spot is going to be in tablet screen sizes. I personally think even the iPad's 10 inches is too small, and something closer to 12 inches would be better. But my goal is to get something that will replace my home notebook completely.

It would be nice if we could swap sim card from our phone and use the existing phone data plan. If not, just sell wifi only version like the ipad. I don't need data plan since I plan to use wifi tethering. I'm concerned about the screen resolution. I hope it's not 800 x 480 like the android phone. This would also have to be much cheaper than the ipad to win me over. I'm definitely a fan of tablets after using my wife's ipad.

I think 3G is a little useless on a tablet.
Just think about it.
The times at you'll be using a tablet is when you're at home, coffee shop, work enviroment or some place with a relax atmosphere where you are sitting down.
Most likely, there will be WIFI available.
Its not like a phone where you are carrying one around with you all the time and need data access instantly throughout the day which of course is when you really need 3G access.
Abd if there is no WIFI and I need to connect, I would just tether to my phone.
I wouldn't want to pay for a data plan just for my tablet(even if its $30)

Interesting. this thing is to debut on 9/2.

word is apple is holding their usual September event on 9/1. Why do I suspect a smaller ipad being announced?

Maybe they got the inside word on pricing. Granted coverage of the apple event will be much larger.

makes you think.
