I only know the Netgear (wireless) one since it's the one I bought; the other one was brought in by the technician.

I'll take a look when I get home. Thanks for trying to help; I am awful with this networking stuff, as I'm sure is evident by my posts. :D

If youve just plugged the wireless router into your existing network causes all sorts of headaches with both routers trying to assign addresses to everything.

Is this guide any use?

Printed it and will take it home with me to see if it helps.

One point of confusion though, why is it that my two Samsung phones can connect without issue? That is what I find so damn strange.

Does your wireless modem have one of those funky one click wi-fi protected setup options?

You said your other modem is supplied by your ISP. Is it just a router or is it a modem as well?
It would be easy if it was just a router as you could just plug your modem straight into your wireless router that way and do away with the need for the router.

Anyway I guess this will have to wait till you get home now anyway, hopefully there will be someone here sober to help. :$

Thanks for the help. I took the tablet to Whole Foods and it connected to the wifi there without issue, so it is some sort of issue with the signal my router is sending. I will need to contact my ISP tonight to get them to rest things so I can log in to my router and try fiddling in there. So damn annoying.

Is that your subtle way of getting us to ask you how you got it free and promoting some annoying online pyramid scheme?

It's hexagonal.

I've given up on this thing. I think I am going to try rooting it and see how that goes. Seems to be relatively simple after reading this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657056 and maybe it will help me get sorted out so I can actually use the damn thing.

If anyone has any tips, please let me know! :)

Try turning everything off.

Then just turn the wireless router and tablet on. Can they see each other now?

Finally figured it out, or at least figured it out enough to get things working.

Apparently I have two wireless networks running and for some reason the tablet only sees one of them, the one I did not know existed, coming from the Actiontec router. IT had a random name and password, so I finally got someone at my ISP to walk me through all of that and my tablet is now hooked up to that wireless network. It's not as solid as my Netgear network, but it will have to do for now.

Thanks again to all for trying to help, especially you WB, really appreicate all of that. :)

Cheers.

I don't think the Tab 2 10.1 supports 5GHz. Mine won't even see the 5GHz signal from my router even though I know it's set up properly because other devices connect to it without any problem.

You need to turn off the wireless signal from the ISP furnished modem/router and use it only as a tunnel to pass through to your Netgear router. Of course, you have to know how to address the modem/router to do so. Try this: Disconnect the Netgear router and connect the ISP's modem/router directly to your computer.

Then try one of these IP addresses in your browser's URL window:

192.168.10.1
192.168.1.1
192.168.0.1

If none of those take you to your modem/router's setup page, your ISP should be able to tell you the local IP address of the modem/router. Use that address to interface with the device and change its settings.

What you want to do is turn off the ISP's Modem/Router WiFi signal altogether. Then set it as a NAT tunnel so that all it does is pass data from the modem through to the Netgear router, which you'll hook back up in a minute.

Once that's done, reconnect the Netgear router and see if that doesn't work.

This thread is 1 1/2 years old and it looks like KT had his problem solved.
