I am wondering if 720p streaming video will work better with the Tegra 3 devices when they come out. I got to play with a Transformer in store the other day and SD video playback on Youtube and Gametrailers was fine, but once I switch to 720p things get choppy.

Was it on HC 3.0? Those issues went away when I updated to 3.1

I assume they did not update the firmware in store so it was probably still on 3.0. Good to hear that the issues are resolved in 3.1. Maybe I'll pick on up after all. :D

http://thisismynext.com/2011/06/15/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-review/

The Tab 10.1 is now the thinnest tablet on the market and yet doesn't sacrifice battery life or performance for its trim dimensions. Does that mean it's better than the iPad 2? In some respects, yes. Its camera takes better shots and it's lighter to hold, but Honeycomb's trailing app selection continues, and will continue to, hold back even the most miraculous Honeycomb hardware. If you're in the market for an Android tablet, the Tab 10.1 is hands down the sleekest money can buy. The $550 ASUS Eee Pad Transformer does add an incredibly unique dimension with its keyboard dock, but as a standalone tablet, I much prefer Samsung's well-revised Tab 10.1.
Waiting for apps to catch up...

I don't get how leaving that out was considered a good idea.

Maybe they didn't have enough time on the redesign? Did the original fatter 10.1v Tab have SD card slot? I don't need it but I can see how that's a deal breaker for someone.

I'm not interested in this Tab. I'm more interested in their 8.9 inch version. But I'll probably skip both and wait for Kal El or equivalent and Ice Cream tablets.

Played with one yesterday. It is very nice and very thin. A bit plasticey on the back but very light. If this had an SD slot I would be feeling buyers remorse for getting the transformer but alas it does not and is 100 bucks more but I can see where they are going with this and it is encouraging.

i like plasticky. aluminum ipad is too heavy. besides its better to pay less for plastic on something thats going to be a paperweight 6 months from now

You know, that USB adapter makes this thing a lot more awesome...

Got to open one up and mess with it a bit tonight. Had 3 customers ask for it (more like 2.5, one lady was asking for the smaller one, but). The thing is sleek as hell - looks and feels much better than the iPad. The screen seemed awesome, but I wasn't able to take off the protective factory plastic as it wasn't a display. The thing is really light, which I mentioned in another thread I didn't care, but it was so comfortable to hold. Felt pretty snappy from the few things I played with, but like I said, it wasn't much. I also really liked that it vibrated to the touch right out the box, something which I haven't seen on the other tablets (assuming they offer it probably, but). If this thing had a MicroSD slot, I'd be all over it. :(

I just played with one at BB today..,, holy shit! Sex on a stick! So light and thin! If I hadn't already hit my quota for gadgets I'd go get one and sell my iPad 2.... very very nice!

so how do you transfer files to this thing if it doesn't have USB?

what format/resolution would I convert movies to if I wanted to watch them on this thing?

Catch is, by the time Tegra 3 devices actually start appearing, Nvidia will be pushing the Tegra 4 out.

Execution on these products needs work, ie, Nvidia announces SoC, Users can buy products based on it within a week.

it takes time to engineer a product around a new SoC. Nvidia is going to announce their products as soon as they are ready for their customers (OEMs), so that they can be competitive with TI/qualcomm etc. No way you're going to get nvidia PR to stay silent for 6-9 months while OEMs work on integration.
