You can install Android 4.3 on your Galaxy S4 right now. And it doesn't need to be the Google Play Edition.

The Galaxy S4 I9505 can be updated to Android 4.3 using this installation guide:

Installation guide:

Install Android 4.3 on your Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505), ported from Google Play Edition (GT-I9505G)

You must follow the installation guide on this link:

More description on the Android 4.3 upgrade:

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition was unleashed just two days ago, but some lucky guy have somehow managed to get his hands on an Android 4.3 Jelly Bean-running test unit of the device. The Android build however doesn't have all of the features that will premiere within the official Android 4.3 though.

The Google's edition of Samsung's flagship is based on the I9505 model powered by the Snapdragon 600 chipset and normally runs on a stock Android 4.2 Jelly Bean ROM.

However if you already got one or even if you own a regular I9505 Galaxy S4 and wonder what is to have the new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, now you can experience it. You can now install the leaked Google Play Edition's test Android 4.3 ROM on your device. We already tried it and found it to be fully functional, with only a minor glitch here and there.

Now there's a chance that some creative developer with too much free time simply altered a few lines in the about screen of the existing 4.2.2 Android release and bundled it with the newly leaked camera and gallery apps. Still, even if it is a prank, the smartphone works as expected, so you can try it.
There are a few things you need to know before you continue. You need to root your smartphone and install a custom recovery and then flash the leaked ROM through it. Even the locked bootloader of our Samsung I9505 Galaxy S4 unit didn't turn to be an issue.

More importantly, this ROM can't be installed via Odin and will void your warranty after the installation.

If you accept those terms and all the risks they bring, then hit our source link below for the download links and instructions. We'll be posting a brief hands-on with the Android 4.3-tasting Galaxy S4 shortly on our blog, so stay tuned.

So much for the whole "it will be slower if the OEMs control the updates!!!!" issue. Samsung's leakish culture means it might be better than Google.

No root so I am avoiding.

So what new features are actually in this leak?
Otherwise I'll assume that someone just changed the "About" screen.

It looks the same as 4.2.2, nobody seems to be able to mention any new features. Could the "4.3" just be a glitch and not actually 4.3 on the phone?

So some rom appears on the internet from a completely unknown source, badged as Android 4.3 but isn't even the final release and we're saying the S4 gets updates first? Right. People will flash any old, leaked crap on their phone. Where does it comes from? Who cares, Android 4.3!

There are 2 ROMs and one has touch wise framework and one is pure Google and they came from Samsung and were given to samobile

Samsung did this to shut up the people saying they won't have fast updates and gave there latest beta to devs to work with as this gs4 is a developer nexus experience phone.

All the rumors about Google not going to update or Samsung going to he slow on updates just got proven wrong and all the haters that said the gs4 won't get fast updates quietly vanished

It proves nothing. It proves someone has got a leaked rom and stuck it on the Internet.

Samsung most prob leaked it as they like to do. A lot of what is in 4.3 is already in the 4.2.2 ROMS that are on the HTC One GE/SGS4 GE. So this most likely includes a lot of what will be in 4.3 when it officially launches.

Got all that from brian though.

Samsung didn't do this at all. Samsung have always been notoriously leaky, mainly because they don't really care what you flash onto your phone.
Hence why odin flashing is so easy compared to other brands.

Its not a tactic by Samsung, its just more that they don't really care about leaks or users flashing ROMs.

What?

That doesn't make any sense.

What gets leaked is whatever is out to their testers at the time.

Why would they deliberately leak non exynos ROMs and keep exynos ones secret?

Sony has flashtool which is just as bit as easy as Odin

I flashed 4.2.2 rom on my ZL in less than 5 mins... Did it this way to get rid of bloatware from carrier. I had a Note 2 before the ZL

That's good to hear. I've never had any experience with flashing Sony smartphones. No stupid s-off shenanigans like HTC?

Ha....I bought the Nexus 4 because it was always said it would ALWAYS get the updates first before any other phone or carrier. So much for that train of thought....

I'm sure they never promised anything about leaked ROMs.

It's a leak, not a actual over the air update. You can say the S4 is getting it first but that's a Google edition just like the nexus 4 is. S4 owners get all giddy about this but you have to realize this isn't official and you have to wait on your carrier to bloat the shit out of this next android version before you even get it. Get happy all you want, if you don't root you won't get this for quite a while.
