Hi guys

I have recently bought a 16 GB refurbished samsung galaxy note 2. However, I am not able to get access to its internal storage, which should indicate nearly 16 GB. When I connect my mobile to PC thru USB mass storage, PC shows only device memory (1.3 GB) and my SD card memory. Where is the internal storage of my device ( i.e 16 GB)?
I need your help. Thanks

Do you see the internal storage on the phone itself? Settings, Storage, should show you around 10-11gb of usable space.

Make sure to set the device to MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). Go to Settings -> Storage, and look up the upper-right corner or wherever you see extra settings. "USB Storage Settings." On vanilla Android, you see MTP and PTP (camera). Choose MTP.

If that doesn't do it, you may need drivers. Samsung may provide Windows drivers for Note 2. You could go with that or go with generic Android Windows drivers -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998650

I installed the generic ("naked") drivers once and every single Android device I've connected worked ever since on both Windows 7 and 8.

Oh, and also try setting USB debugging mode in developer options. Google how to expose developer options on Android 4.1.2 and onward.

Drivers shouldn't be required for MTP mode, its a universal "driverless" mode . Note 2 doesn't have USB Storage mode, only MTP and PTP modes.

MTP mode should correctly expose all the available space, if it doesn't, there might be a formatting issue. As I mentioned, check to be sure the device itself can see all 11 formatted gigabytes. If your storage screen doesnt say 10.97gb of total space, there is something wrong with the device.

Edit: the Note II is a unified storage device. It only has one "internal storage" and its the 16gb of advertised space.
