Can anyone explain how Amazon charges $99 vs Verizon's $299 price
for same phone? 😕

amazon gets a certain amount from verizon for signing up a new customer. given they have way less overhead than say a physically manned store and are trying to promote amazon wireless they are willing to make less money as a retailer.

plus you lose some benefits. with verizon corporate stores, you can almost always bring the phone back to the store if it is broken and get a replacement. can't do that with a phone bought from amazon.

You can still take your phone to Verizon Corporate to get it serviced... just after the 14 day Worry-Free-Guarantee. If you want to exchange or you have a DOA phone, you have to mail it back to Amazon during that period.

I think Amazon gets away with it because of the lack of overhead, like you said... but also because they force customers to have a current plan, and customers must remain above a certain threshold or have their plan active for a certain amount of time or else they get charged a separate fee from Amazon.

Makes no sense, thank goodness I want the Rezound any ways, but they should be the same price with a contract.

Fine, but if they cost me the same if I outright buy them, logic tells me they should cost the same if I get them under contract. Verizon has always has shit pricing though so moves like this don't surprise me at all.
