Samsung Front-Load Washer/Dryers

Any of you guys ever own this brand of front-load or know anyone who has? How would you rate it based on what you personally know or have heard from friends/family? My dryer is ancient, finally died today, and instead of fixing it I decided I'm going to replace it and may go ahead and replace the washer the washer while I'm at it. The Samsungs I just checked out at HH Gregg looked pretty nice but thought I'd post here to supplement my normal internet searches.

Anyone have a brand preference for LG on this type of purchase? They had a nice/similar offering as well.

**EDIT** When all is said and done I'm sure I will end up with the $250 standard 'it's just heat buddy' dryer...

So far so good. Got the Samsung 407 series steam washer/dryer from Best Buy for $600 each back in November (basically 1/2 off).

Look into rebates from the Fed/state/local utilities. The more energy efficient, the larger the rebate. Could close the gap on the price difference.

We looked at them, but got the Kenmore Elite instead. The Samsung ones are highly rated but expensive, and not that much better than much cheaper competitors. The Sears branded ones are Whirlpool.

bought a set from sears a couple years ago during appliance blowouts for like $850 and managed to snag a set of pedastals from lowes for $44.

Unless the others have caught up, the Samsung VRT (Vibration Reduction Technology (big words, simple idea and solution)) is miles ahead of the competitors, especially if you have the washer/dryer upstairs. I know this from experience.

I highly, highly, highly recommend.

We got a Samsung High Efficiency model when our older washer died. I cannot say enough good things about it. It is amazingly quiet and really gets our clothes clean. We use cloth diapers for the kids, and it does a good job with them as well. The spin cycle gets the clothes much dryer than our old washing machines, and consequently, our clothes dryer dries our clothes faster and uses less energy.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I'm going to pull the trigger but am going to sleep on it tonight. Quick question, more of a general question and not a Samsung specific, what are your thoughts on steam technology? Specifically as it relates to the dryer. I'm thinking about spending a little extra to go ahead and bump up to that dryer but want to see if it is a true functionality bonus or more gimmick at this point.

Quick bump for the morning crowd then to the archives you go...

I slept on it and decided I'm going to buy them after work today barring any extremely negative feedback here.

Love my set...got 'em at Black Friday 2 years for $999 for the pair...

just remember to keep the washer door open after you are done using them to prevent the mildew smell...i also keep the tray for the detergent open as well...

Just wanted to update that I bought a set of the 410s (washer/steam dryer set) and they are supposed to be delivered this afternoon.

let us konw how you like them!

Don't think that I've ever saw anyone post anything bad about the Samsungs. Did lots of research for my 2nd set of front loaders (after trying two sets of Whirlpools) and the Samsungs were consistently given the best ratings that I could find. I now know why. Only regret is buying them when I did because price was much higher but I needed to replace the Whirlpools right, then and there and picked the best set that I could find. Still 100% satisfied with performance.

In a word... wow. Everything just feels better coming out of the dryer, seems to smell more fresh, etc. And the things are just ridiculously quiet. The steam function on the dryer definitely works and at this point I'm just looking around for other stuff to throw in there and wash.

I must stop soon though. I'm a man damnit. I should be cleaning guns and drinking whisky or something manly like that.

I just bought a Samsung Dishwasher. It's excellent can almost inaudiable.

For my new washer and dryer I picked Whirlpool 5600 series...they were running sales that overlapped with other deals I was able to pricematch a ton of money on. The savings covered much of the new dishwasher.
