I'm running 5 of these in RAID-5 as we speak. I love this drive. I've been using Samsung drives for my RAID setups exclusively for the past few years. I'm a big fan of their reliability, temperatures and lack of noise.

If I had a Microcenter near me, I'd likely pick up a couple more.

Nice buy if you only need a 5400 RPM which is fine for many uses. I love the HD103UJ 7200 rpm drives usually about $15 more. Fry's also sell the HD102UJ which is 1TB and 7200 RPM but has a 16GB cache.

We have over a hundred of these drives (103UJ) running and have had better reliability than with any other make of drive. They are very quiet, very quick and perhaps the coolest running 1TB drives available. Great find at the cheapest price I have ever seen for 1TB.

I see where you are coming from, but really doesn't bother me in the practical sense as an end user. Last I remember when I ever cared about HDD speed was Spinpoint P80 days.
