Assuming that they got the IP from KM when they bough the imaging division they possibly already have an excellent starter, the Vectis mount (all electronic & designed for APS).
I've been wondering for years if there wasn't a position in the market for a digital Vectis.

no one knows exactly what IP sony bought, which is a problem for prognosticators.

well, presumably at least KM & Sony's legal departments know :p

You would expect though at the very least that Sony would be able to negotiate rights to use it if they so wished & were willing to pay but of course given that most of Minolta's camera engineers now work for Sony they could always start afresh.

i'd be real interested if the IP to the contax G and konica hexar rf were sold. given zeiss's continued interest in rangefinders (zeiss ikon) and their no-doubt wish to have the contax name out there again, the fact that they're already partners with sony gives rise to some interesting scenarios.

stephen gandy claims KM was working on a digital hexar rf back in 2004.
