i have the samsung and I really like it. Plus I got it for $150, so for the price it cannot be beat. 1024*768 @ 100HZ looks great, but my parents have a dell flat screen (sony) and still that is 4 years old and looks maybe even better since it is aperature grille. Get a nice aperature grillle if you cann afford it, but not then get the samsung.

the viewsonic is an aperture grill. I am just not so sure of its quality as the difference in price is so slim. Does anyone have one of these monitors ?

I have the P95f+ and I really like it. I would recommend seeing both and decide on which ever looks best to you. Both are fine monitors. I also looked at both, but I prefered the image on the Viewsonic.

what did you find preferable about the picture of the p95f? is it brighter or clarity was just generally better ?

Mitsubishi 930sb is the best you can get the 997df and the viewsonic both are godly horrible, The viewsonic is really bad. Its not full appature grille and the stuff is blurry on the outside of screen becouse it is .27 whereas the center is .25

I have the Viewsonic P95f+ and I love it. High refresh, high resolution, high dpi, flatscreen 19", and the "UltraBrite" feature totally rocks. with the touch of a button, you can make games light up and make the pictures look extremely sharp and clear.

I'm running this monitor at 1280x1024 @ 100Hz
But it's capable of 1024x768 @ 120Hz

I have a 997DF and I'm fine with it. (I don't really game or anything though, so keep that in mind when deciding)

Im telling you you will notice it, I have been on a long trip for the last year trying to find a good monitor, Ive learned the good with the bad. the 930sb from mitsubishi is a beast, it looks great and it has the most amazing picture. and its full appature grille. Im warning you dont buy the viewsonic it blows and its the size of a 21" where its still a 19". The 997df is fine iof you are not picky, I had a pic problem with there being a white Aura around white pbjects on black backround. I met some pople around the Us who had this monitor online some had the problem and some did not. Im telling you get the Mitsubishi 930sb from dell becouse they ahve great deals and free shipping, and if it comes defective you dont ahve to pay shipping back like you would with newegg or other stores. After yuo get that go to Sears and get a 0x4" Phillips professional screwdriver and tweak the Pots on the left side of the Monitor thentweak the convergence with naviset.

After all of that

You will ahve a Crt that has the clearest and most persise picture and text yopu have ever seen,. I tweaked this thing so nicely the text is better than my Samsung 710T which its text is clearly amazing. Belive me. Viewsonic is not as good as everybody thinks

I am starting to think I will get the 930sb after all. I'd love it if you could give me a detailed explanation of what you mean by tweaking the 'pots' with the 0x4" phillips screwdriver as well as tweaking the convergence with naviset. How you do this, why, and what result you are after. :) Thank you. I guess I am a monitor noob :) I am a dedicated gamer and my machine is mainly for gaming. And it seems to me that the 930sb or the 21" version really is the very best monitor for pc gaming. So I am buying one. I'd really appreciate what you mean with the tweaking though. As if this improves picture, I am going to want to do this.

There are potentiometers inside many monitors that you can use to make fine adjustments to the picture with. When I was an I&C Tech at a power plant, we had Conrac monitors (22" x 8 per operator) and they'd call us to fix image quality when their front panel adjustments failed to produce the desired effects.

A note though: you're probably violating the terms of your product warranty if you take the cover off of your monitor to make adjustments.

ps - I just got a Samsung 997DF yesterday. So far it is better than the 955DF that is replaced and far better than the Viewsonic A91f+ I tried the day before yesterday. Perhaps the A91f+ I had was a bad unit, that's a possibility, but it was fuzzy above 1024x768. And the refresh rates at many resolutions were lower than those on the 997DF at the same resolution.

I like my Samsung 997 a lot. No problems at all.
The viewsonic footprint is too big.

I ahve both the 930sb and the 2070sb and they are both amazing. You are not violating warrenty by adjusting the pots. These are HQ monitors you can adjust the monitors pots to the focus level in which you find best/ Everybody sees everything differently. same thing with colors.

the 2070sb is to big I find myself looking around the screen which is annoying, the 19" is just the right size for everything but digital art stuff. Also when you go to a higher resolution and refreshrate the screen gets blurry on the 930sb, thats becouse its not focused at that level. so find what you like and then focus it. Adjusting the pots makes an amazing difference. It also has the U-NX electron gun which is amazing. and mitsishi has great support top of the line.

Wait a few days they ahve deals like 440 off and stuff ya just have to catch it at the right time

Do a search here for my comments on the 997, avoid that thing at all costs. I saw vinnys commments over on the overclockers forums, he had the same experience. Is the screen focus problem really that bad on the P95? Like with the outer edges being blurry?

Oh yea I should add you can get the 930 from techonweb.com for 290 incuding shipping. Anyone had experience with the 930 and the FE991? What is the difference between them and has anyone else had a problem with the monitor dying in like a year? Hehe sorry to hijack the thread but I'm in the same boat.

the 930sb has a .24 dot pitch and the FE911 has a .25-.27 I would go with the 930sb The monitos use the same exact tube just a different AG

quick question vinnie. I am pretty much sold on the 930. But you mention that a change of resolution/refresh rate causes screen blur. I'm going to be gaming with this monitor, as this is my main use of my computer. I run all my games at 1600x1200 right now. But keep my desktop at 1280x1024. Refresh rate will be varied when gaming, se vsync. But for my desktop, I usually go at 1280x1024 and whatever is the recommended refresh or highest possible depending on the look of the screen. Does this mean I will have to adjust constantly when switching from gaming to desktop etc ? Does this necessarily have to mean an actual physical adjustment, or can I do this via software or the monitors controls ? I'm hoping the latter and I can have presets to switch between for gaming/desktop.

How is the display at 1024 as well? Besides my desktop that's the only rez I use. What do you mean by 440 off btw lol? I'm like pinching pennies here hehe...

The blur is only in text and its blurry becouse the text is so clear in the 1st place. You will not see it in games or movies

the only time I notice a blur at the edges of on my monitor is when I just turn the monitor on, or when I "wake up" the monitor in sleep mode.

I think I am set on the 930sb.. I'm in Canada up here the 997df is $300 vs $415 for the 930.. So I guess I will spend the extra $100 on it
