Samsung 970P stand

Thanks for all the great info, everyone. And sorry about not posting in this thread since starting it.

Basically, when I emailed samsung customer support, I received a reply in roughly ~2 days that said they'd shipped out a replacement monitor. Picked up the replacement, returned my old one, and been using it since.

However, I went home over the Christmas holiday (for roughly four weeks; from the middle of December until the middle of January), and when I came back, my screen was completely touching the base. The stand is now no longer able to hold up the weight of the screen whatsoever; it's propped up against the base, which is sitting on an old textbook to get everything eye level.

I emailed samsung about the problem a few weeks back, although I don't think I ever received a reply. I'm going to try calling them one of these days to see if I can just get a replacement stand instead. I figure tempting fate and going for three separate monitors with no dead pixels is too much of a gamble for me.

Hey cool, people are back! Just an update: my new stand is holding up famously. The new stands are definitely improved, and if you notice in my pictures the new stand stands taller than the old one at the maximum height. They've definitely changed something.

As for instructions on removing the old stand, you just have to pry off the gray piece of plastic on the back to reveal the screws. This will not destroy the monitor. You will then unscrew four screws and unplug two cables. The panel then freely comes off the stand.

Once you've tried it you'll see it's pretty simple, and that Samsung is filling you up with BS. I just wish I knew which number I called to get the stand - I'm wondering if some people are calling a different department.

It would be nice if someone could post the correct number to call. I haven't had any luck with:
800-726-7864

At least.. not yet.

Can you post the part number of the new stand so I can have some ammunition when I call Samsung support?

Thanks

I am having the same sagging monitor issues, and when I googled it, I found this site! I dug out my receipt (which I didn't need) and I called 1-800-SAMSUNG. The guy I spoke to said I had to BUY the stand for $257.00! I said whoa, I haven't even had this a year, blah blah blah, and he was very apologetic, told me to call back and choose option 4 and then follow the selections for monitors. So, I did all that, sat on hold for about 10 minutes, and the guy I got was super nice, asked for my Serial Number and address, and said a replacement stand was on the way. I did tell him from the get go that I had found the same stand issues on the internet, and that I wanted a new stand since that seemed to be the only fix. He was like yes, we have heard that some, its no problem to fix. Hopefully this helps others!
