Is this a good monitor? I've read that some people have problems with it flickering. Has anyone here had this or any other problems with it? Also, what is the difference between the 955df and the 900nf?
The 955DF uses a shadow mask screen, whereas the 900NF uses an aperture grille. The 900NF has higher refresh rates and can support higher resolutions, IIRC.
Is the aperature grill better than the shadow mask. I won't be doing any high level graphics or anything, just games, some photoshop, ect.. SHould I save $100 and get the 955df or get the 900nf?
I was wondering the same thing. I've been looking for a new monitor for a while; after seeing the couple of Samsungs my friend has, I've decided to get one. Only problem is, I don't know which one. A 17" or 19", deffinately, but which model? Everybody here reccomends the NF line, but they seem a little expensive. What about the the other model lines?
I have one and am selling it for 200 bucks. Do not buy this monitor... Mine is one that flickers at 1280x960 at 85 hz. Spend more money for a higher quaility monitor. I still like Samsung, just not their 955df and the terrible refresh rates it does

The 955DF is only supposed to go to 75Hz (MAX) at 1280x1024. No wonder yours flickers.
Since I like my desktop at 1152x864 (I am nearsighted) it does 85hz (the highest my Radeon 64 VIVO supports) without ANY noticeable flickering.
Perhaps the "flickering" one is DEFECTIVE. Samsung has an EXCELLENT 3 year warranty. The 955DF is HIGH QUALITY for general computing.
Hm... I've been shying away from recommending the 955DF recently, simply due to its inability to do even 85Hz at 1280x1024. For a 19", that is almost a must have, while 75Hz isnt bad, some might find that refresh rate flickering. Now I recommend NEC AccuSync 95F, it uses the same Samsung tube as the 955DF, only that it can do up to 1600x1200@76Hz, and its a bit cheaper too.
Buy the compaq S900's that most places are clearing out now. I HAVE a Samsung 955df and at work we bought a bunch of the Compaqs. They are nicer and have 2 inputs. I'd love that... 😀
