Samsung 955DF 19" Flat for $226 - $30 rebate

Looked at the review on Cnet for this monitor. Am not too impressed with it. Anyone got one of these and can comment on the blurring towards the sides?

Pretty good price I'd say, but don't want it it it really has a problem as mentioned in the review.

I'm using this very nice monitor right now. Here's another way

Call dell.com to pricematch this monitor. Ask them to refer to www.techonweb.com The price for techonweb.com is $195.

Base price = $195
Shipping = $0
Rebate = $30

total of $165

I do not know if dell.com will pricematch this site again. I did this with the same monitor and websites but at a different cost ($230) a few months ago. It couldn't hurt to call. If this works out, this is an amazing price for a 19 inch flat screen monitor.

Just out of curiosity: Dell does pm? I does not say anything on their site and I am surprised they'd do it.

I went to techonweb.com and while it is $195 the shipping is $41 for UPS ground! that kills the deal with the $30 rebate. I really hope I can find this thing somewhere local so that I can go and pick it up myself. That is, unless of course I can om it somewhere and get it shipped for free *evil grin*

Ok, just found the same monitor for $155 but shipping is again $41. This sucks. I hope Dell.com will match it.

They have two versions of this model now I believe. The older one actually had controls on a hydraulic slide out tray (the one I have now). For me, if I set the brightness and contrast controls all the way up then the corners of the monitor will get a bit blurry. *But* if I actually calibrate my monitor properly and set the brightness down and contrast a bit lower from full then it clears up the blurryness a good bit on the corners.

The newer model (the one I think they're all selling now) doesn't have the slideout tray but instead has all the controls upfront on the monitor. This newer one supposely has better overall picture quality and sharpness.

Oh yeah, is there any chance of just using coupons and stuff with dell and then use the 30 dollar rebate?

<< Get it at amazon.com for $226 955DF for $226 >>

thanks, i gues, but ... not cool when you post impossible deals. Or rather, REPOST a deal, there are already a number of threads on this.

This monitor has been out of stock at amazon since saturday morning. I even suubmitted my email to be notified when it got back in stock.

by the time you posted this "deal" it had already been dead for almost 48 hours.

I have this monitor. I am running it at 100hz at 1024 X 768. It only did 80hz until I updated the drivers with microsoft ( I am running Win XP pro)

But the quality is great, well worth $200 in my book.

I will wait till it comes back down to $194 which it was with the Gateway deal a while back. People with the Gateway deal can still hit up on the rebate so that one is way better than this one.

I have the same version that GreatWolf has - with the slideout tray. The blurring around the sides is really minimal - I don't notice it at all and I am pretty picky and irritated by little things like that (for example this one panel in my car rattles a bit, I makes me go insane - can anyone relate???). This is a great deal on a great monitor.

K, amazon says its out of stock when I ordered on the 14th but they just shipped my monitor this morning. Should arrive within 2-3 days. It's in NV right now. I'm in CA heheh...as close as u can get without having to pay tax!

BTW, BB has $50 rebate on this monitor but only if u purchased from BB. Bummer

mine runs at 100hz at 1024 X 768 on Win98 SE. I don't think I have update anything recently...unless the monitor menu deceives me.

I have one of these too... I think I got it for $279 after MIR about 6 months ago... it is a really good monitor for the money (it looks a helluva lot better than the 21" Mitsu Diamondpro I have at work)... there is s ome slight blurring towards the edges but it isn't bad. I opted to go with this one rather than going with a higher end screen... I really wanted an LCD but want to give them another 6 months to a year to improve and come down in price.

The only other thing to keep in mind is that the viewable area is only about 17.8" ... most other 19" monitors have viewable areas of 18" or better.

I'll get a 19" LCD when they get down to around $799

Nope. it's a rebate from Samsung. Don't matter where you buy. I am hoping though that CompUSA will have some sale 🙂 they did some great job on the lexmark. Hope springs eternal...

I got mine for about 165 from dell. That was with Dell 10% samsung $40 and then a dell code for $40. I'm a little disappointed wit it. One thing I noticed is if you vary the bright control from 0 to 100% the screen dosen't change much. The colors don't seem to be as bright as I thought they would be. We have trinitron scopes at work that look much better. I don't know if I'd get another. I even called samsung about the bright thing and they said it was normal.

<< So why not price match this at Staples.com? >>

I would say the shipping is the reason. It works out to be $236 from Staples w/ the 110% PM on a $230 initial price. Now if shipping runs you $40, it kills the deal. I know I have heard it both ways on the Staples matching free shipping from online sites too. Some can manage to get free shipping, others get denied. I would like to hear some feedback if anybody tries the Staples deal as I am gonna pick up the monitor from SOMEBODY next week

Like others above I run mine at 1024x768 and 100hz and have no bluriness problem. I think the real limitation of this monitor is that if you want to run at higher resolutions, the refresh rate quickly declines and you get a lot of flicker.

I have an older version of this monitor form Dell.. I don't notice any blurring towrads the edges and i got mine quite a whiles back.. before october i believe, not exactly sure. But I really like this monitor.. it's cheap and it's good.. i'm running it at 1600x1200 @ 60Hz i don't notice the refresh rate on monitors so it doesn't bother me. I guess it's a drawback that it can only output 60Hz for some people with sensitive eyes.. i sit in front of this thing almost all day. Neways, if u can get it for approximately 200 or cheaper.. i'd say go for it 😀
