Samsung 900NF VS Sony CPD-G400

I know that different people prefer different types of monitors. I am one who prefers a Sony Tube that has rich vibrant colors.

I've been looking at these two monitors and cannot decide which one to purchase. They are both within the same price range (about 30 dollars apart).

Any user experiances? I have seen the the G400 in action and it looks good. I was wondering if the Picture Quality of the 900NF compares.

The 900 NF uses a Diamondtron tube which is basically the same as the Trinitron tube with Samsung's improvements. If you look at the specs, the 900NF tops out the g400 in all resolutions in Hz. The picture quality between the two is almost identical with both being excellent in quality

Unfortunetly all I can tell you is that I have a 900NF and it works great.
I have a 19" sony at work but not sure which kind...it's a trinitron though..so it could be the other one you are talking about.

Anyways...the 2 horizontal wires on the 900NF are *much* more visible...but like many people it doesn't bother me except for snow maps in tribes2

The 900NF is huge..so you need a lot of deskroom. Other than that I'm very happy with it. And I'm equally happy with my sony. At that price you aren't going to see any huge differences.

I'm happy with both...I assume you would be as well. I'm in 1280x1024 in both..linux/doze in both...and both performe very well.

Syborg, I could be wrong..but the diamondtron is manufactured by Mitsubishi...not samsung...not that it changes anything.

But I agree..the 900NF can hit amazing resolutions at very good refresh rate...it was by far the best. i can actually put mine at 1600x1200 and still see things pretty well...dunno if the sony would get blury..

As far as specs goes, they're pretty equal. It comes down to which tube you prefer (Diamondtron NF or Trinitron). On thing that would make me choose the Samsung is that quality check seems to be better. A lot of people have to return Sony monitors, while I haven't heard as many people getting bad 900NFs. The Samsung is also cheaper. (where I live it's like a 120$ difference...)

Ditch the CRTs and go for an NEC or equivelent 18.1" TFT.

Samsung 900NF. Had mine since last Feb and the novelty STILL hasn't worn off.

I own both units and have both running side by side in dual display. Picture quality is equal for both units. Its seems that the quality control with Sony has really went down hill and they are not the easiest company to deal with on a RMA. I would steer clear of Sony for awhile untill they get there act back together.

For me (on my Samsung 700NF) the lines are barely visible.
