I think they use the same Mitsubishi DiamondTron tube, which means they yield essentially the same quality. I had the same decision to make about half a year ago, I got in on the Dell deal for the 900NF for $320 shipped. I was disappointed in the consistency in the corners where there were dark brownish blackish spots. I believe now that this was caused by the earth's magnetic field, but I had no idea at the time, so I RMAed the sucker 3 times before getting a refund and going down to my local Fry's to find a suitable aperture grille 19 incher. There I saw the Sony CPD-400G and the FE950+ side-by-side, and it was very similar with subtle differences. I went for the FE950+ because it was black (conveniently my case and keyboard are black as well) and the pricetag was a bit easier on the wallet than the Sony. So I got it home and set it up, and surpise surprise, the same brownish spots appeared. A bit disheartened, I flipped through the manual and saw something called 'GlobalSync'. What this does is it allows you to tweak the corners individually so that it's consistent with the rest of the screen. The 900NF had no such option, so I think I made the right choice. I couldn't be happier with it. If your desk is facing east, I don't think you have to worry much about this, but it's very nice to have. One major difference between the 900NF and the FE950+ is that the 900NF has BNC connectors, but this is basically legacy compatibility, as the same coax cables are used with standard DSUB connectors now IIRC. Good luck in your decision, you can't go wrong with either IMO.
