I thought 'real world' performance increase with raid wasn't significant with SSD

I would agree with this. My current system is a pair of 180GB SSDs in RAID0, simply for the capacity. I don't think there's any perceptible performance increase over a single drive.

My current RAID setup (2x256GB Samsung 830 SSD in RAID-0) sees 1GB/s performance sequential read and 775MB/s write.

By my count, that's double the performance of a single drive. I had a similar doubling of speed with my previous rig using 2x60GB OCZ Vertex SSDs.

As for noticeable? It's an SSD.... pretty much everything loads close to an eyeblink, but even eyeblinks can be quicker.

If all you do is web surfing, e-mail and write the occasional word document, it isn't really going to do much for you. I'm a developer, and I have a lot of resource hogs running on my system. I welcome the extra burst of speed.

Kind of strange and I don't know if I'll get probated/warned for this, but I'm selling one for $330 in my FS/FT thread. Brand new. Alright bye!

Prices creeping back up!

Rakuten.com has the SanDisk EX2 480GB for $269 today....that's HOT.

Fry's also has the 500 EVO for $249 today at the Houston stores. Different locations do not always have the same prices so YMMV.
