Are you sure that this is a "Pro" model?

Edit: The model number suggests that it is. I wonder if Amazon has it right though.

From what I remember, 120GB is normal version, 128GB is Pro.

Rumor has that because normal version is TLC, and Samsung put extra cushion to capacity in case it may need extra space for garbage collection. So, this should be somewhat risky, TBH.

840 is new, cheaper to make, and adds some features but has lower performance than ye olde 830, yes yes? So, despite current pricing: 840 < 830 < 840 Pro.

So, not to thread crap, but as a novice to SSDs, can somebody point me to a link that will explain the differences between these flavors of Samsung 830s?

These are the truncated descriptions from Newegg:

SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC256B/WW 2.5"

SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC256D/AM 2.5"

SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC256N/AM 2.5"

Also, commercial clone software is free from drive manufacturers (and there are freeware alternatives), brackets are very cheap, and so are USB 2.0 adapters presuming such is included in that kit, so a 3.0 adapter purchased seperately would be more useful. In short, the bare drive is generally best. Actually, the same Ghost software included in the kits can be downloaded from Samsung as well.
