Samsung 712N good deal?

I need a new 17" lcd monitor and am researching for best deal. So far, I found this Samsung 712N for 299 dollars after rebate at best buy. I m not sure if it's a good deal. If you guys find the best deal than this , let me know so I can decidee whether if i should go ahead buy this one or looking for other best deal.

I also am considering this Samsung 710T but it's pretty expensive for me.

I will second hawks opinion. I have had mine since September (paid $379 with a $100 MIR). I love this monitor. It took me a while to get the monitor calibrated to my liking but its wonderful. No Ghosting in Hl2, CSS, Doom 3 etc.

The main thing I noticed was the fast screen load when I minimize etc. That itself was a HUGE improvement. Bios screens come up faster etc. 🙂
I love it.

Thanks all of you guys who gave me some postive replies. I ve decided to purchase it at best buy today, they added 20 dollars rebate which total 90 dollars rebate. I m using it right now and it's pretty good. I m having a hard time to find the monitor driver to install. It doesnt recogzine from cd so i m looking for right driver from website.


It's awesome lcd. i will try game after installing right driver.

It is supposed to install the drivers right off the CD.
The CD is strange since the drivers are for the 710 I believe, but the 710 are the drivers for the 712.
I would just get those or the ones off Microsoft update.
Drivers from the CD arn't worse or better than the ones off Microsoft update. Bascially the same IMO.
 
Yeah... I finally figured that the cd comes with 711n which is also designed for 712n too. i find it odd anyway.

Anyone playing mulitplayer game online with this 712n???. I couldnt able to get into muiltplayer game cuz the montior acts as it doesnt recongize the online game. it keeps saying "not optimum mode. Recommended mode + 180 x 1024 60mhz. I tried everything to resize the mode or whatever. nothing works. Wondering why... Any suggestion?


 
Staples has this on sale again this week (2005-02-18).

Costco has a 713V, anyone able to clue me in on the differences?
