Just found this great deal.

smaller pixel pitch is preferred by some...which since all LCDs from 17-19" all run a res of 1280x1024, a 17" is going to look better. Unlike CRTs going from 17" to 19" usually reaps a reward of higher resolution, for LCDs you need to go to 20" to get that, so I guess the lesson is that bigger isn't always better, that's $50 more for a larger screen and no extra work space and don't forget the Samsung has a faster response time and also offers a pivoting ability. I guess the main strength of 19" LCDs is that they can boast insane contrast ratios of up to 1000:1, but that's Samsung's own new 19", not Dell's.

$450 can get you a 19" LCD with DVI and low responce time, wait til another deal... for 17" you shouldn't pay more then $300-350ish

Yeah but:

1) 19" = 1280x1024 --- 17" = 1280x1024

Some people aren't blind so they prefer the same resolution in a smaller size (better quality).

2) LCD with DVI is expensive. Samsung has one of the best dead pixel policies and warranties. Do we have some genuine name brand 19" LCD with DVI and good warranties and low response time for $450? I'd still take the 17" at the same native resolution.

I don't think this is a super hot deal because it isn't much cheaper than the lowest price on PriceGrabber.com from a reputable seller (eBuyer.com looks to be about $20 higher).

Well it depends on the display as well, a really nice 17" lcd with dvi might go aroun 400-450, and a nice 19' around 550-600

1901 16ms response time
710t 12 ms response time

1901 max fps is 62.5 no matter what the refresh rate
710t max fps is 75 since the 12ms response time would be 83.333 fps, but the refresh rate only goes to 75

you decide what you need, but the 710t will have a smoother look since the pixels are smaller and closer together wheras the 1901 will have slightly better color reproduction due to the 8 bit screen vs the 6 bit of all 12ms panels currently.

I myself have a 710t and its a purchase i haven't regretted although somtimes i wish i could find a way to justify getting the hp l2335 =)
