Samsung 710N-2-Black : $284.99

My Fry's ad has this for $249, even though I didn't go out on Fri, thinking they may have some Sat since some other LCD was the hot $149 deal.

This is a nice deal, I'm torn between this and the Sony at
Newegg for $295.00 shipped. Anyone think the SONY SDM-S73/B 17 is worth the extra $12.00? I'd rather get the Samsung but I've never bought from Buy.com and Newegg is so quick on shipping.

I've bought alot from both of these store and they are both top notch stores.
The specs alone on the 710N would make me lean toward it especially if your a gamer or plan on watching a lot of movies on this.

The 710N sells at newegg for$348
710N @ newegg

Sony:
Brightness: 250 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 400:1 (Typ.), 500:1 (Max)
Response Time: 16ms
View Angle: 140° / 120° (Horizontal / Vertical)

Samsung:
Brightness: 300 cd/m2
Contrast Ratio: 600:1
Response Time: 12 ms
View Angle: 160 / 160 (Horizontal / Vertical

Wow. I just did some research onthe 710N-2 and the 712N. There is only 2 differences. The 710N-2 has a slightly better viewing angle, but .5 million less colors I think. lol.
The difference is extremely small. 🙂
Good think I got the 712N from outpost.com before it went OOS!

Thats right 712N @16.7 million and the 710N-2 @16.2 million supported colors.

I didn't know there were that many colors, do they all have names?

I bought one of these monitors yesterday at CompUSA's sale. They, BB, and Frys all had it for $249 AR. My initial impression of the monitor was not good as the text was broken and the overall lighting was very uneven. The menu gives you both automatic and manual adjustments but nothing I did seemed to work. This morning my daughter took her turn and got it running up to speed. Now everything looks great. This monitor replaces a 19" CRT that I have had for a while. Incidentally, I played Doom 3 for a few minutes to see if there was any ghosting. None at all.

Dell E173FP specs don't look to bad but it comes with a one year warranty as opposed to three on the
710N-2.

I am betting we see another round of $50 rebates on this monitor. Fry's had a pile of them on the floor, and nobody is going to pay $400 for them anymore.

I ordered it on 26th and it was already shipped out on 27th.
Also, I bought it with my AMEX which exntends the original warranty. So instead of 3 years it will make 4 years!!

Thats pretty quick, I hope they ship mine out on Monday, it would be nice to get it before the weekend. Let me know how yours looks when you get it. I'm replacing a very nice 19" Nec/Mitsubishi Diamondtron FE991sb CRT so this new Lcd has it's work cut out on impressing me.

Thanks wangtony, if I use the 10% off later they will issue a 15% off! 🙂

How do you think I got the name Lucky?

Hmm...according to the Fedex tracking, it's being shipped out from Memphis, TN instead of CA.
I thought applicable sales tax is based on where a package would be shipped out from.😕

Suposedly 17" LCD's and under are not that much better with DVI, Above 17 and it's much more critical

Sales tax is based on a "presence" in the state, not where it ships from.

Newegg has a shipping center in Memphis Tn and I live in Tn and get charged sales tax from New Egg.

If you ship from a state you might have a presence there, unless you're driving through and throwing from the back of a truck.
