You can find some charts out there that break down resolution, size, and distance to not see pixels with human visual acuity. 720p holds up really well up to 50 in or so. Heck most 1080p snobs spend a lot of time watching 720p content and never realize it.

They had the 51in of the same model (720p) for 399. Could only notice the difference if I was looking for it, I have the 60in 1080p model (5500 series, Samsung too) from Costco. Plus, I am only about 5 feet from the screen. I use the 51in as my bedroom tv. :)
