I know there have been a lot of burners for cheap after rebates but never seen this one.

In todays Sunday ad. $89.99 less 2 (two) X $30 mail in rebates.

Looks like model SW-240BRAS.

Are thesese any good, do they have burn proof?

my money then goes with the answer...."yes!". :)

Is it suppose to be a joke??????????????

Sanyo develop first Burn-proof technology who provide the optical lense for Plextor CDRW.
Samsung Drive are good but they are relative new in optical drive technology compare to other manufacture.

CompUSA has an almost identical deal on the same drive. $89 minus $10 instant rebate minus $50 MIR = $29. So if your local BB is out, you can give your local CompUSA store a try.

Does this drive work with Norton Ghost 2002?

Is there someplace to find out what drives will work with Ghost? I have had to return several drives because they don't. I know Symantec lists tested drives but the list is far from complete and of course they have no interest in updating it when a new Ghost version is out now (2003). I haven't found any CD-RW manufactrer that lists this info either. I'm thinking maybe there is a forum or something somewhere that posts what works with Ghost (or Drive Image). TIA

Does anyone know which CD SW burning package is included? The 32X came with Roxio CD Creator...hope they dropped that in favor of Ahead Nero.

Does anyone know where the serial number would be located for this drive? I'm guessing it's the series of numbers between the model number (SW240) and the Firmware ID: R304. It begins with 6GAT..... However, there are 2 labels on my drive, each with different numbers.

I had the same problem. I thought the 2 numbers were the same, until I looked closely. I decided to go with the number on the top of the drive, from the label that has the mfg date on it. However I made real sure to photocopy all the materials, in case Samsung comes back and says "you gave us an incorrect serial no."

Anybody have any information about the CompUSA rebate for 50? I just went there and they didn't have any rebates.
