Looking at the rebate on the Amazon site, it looks like you'd only get the $50 rebate if you bought the Yepp Techno MP3 player. The one at Amazon for $69.99 is the Yepp Hip Hop MP3 player, so the rebate would be good for a 32 meg Smartmedia card. Still a warm deal for the player and an extra 32 meg card.

Sorry, the $50 rebate is a mistake. If you look at the rebate pdf carefully you only get a free 32 mb smart media card, NOT a $50 rebate like the amazon site says. Don't expect to get it for $20 like the site suggests-- the rebate form says otherwise.

The $50 rebate is only for the Yepp Techno. The rebate that applies to the Yepp Hip-Hop is the free 32MB SmartMedia card.

Damn, I have to get faster. You guys are quick. :D

I bought this player for my brother for Christmas. It's an OK player, but it does not have an LCD screen on the actual player itself which is kind of annoying. (There is a tiny little LCD on the "remote" that only displays the track number.) Also, the headphones that come with it are crap, and the software that it is bundled with is Real Jukebox, which suuuucks!! It takes forever to transfer files, (even though it is USB), and it will only rip MP3s at a max rate of 96! Whats that all about!?

Other considerations: Has problems recognizing a 128mb smartmedia card, and doesn't look or feel at all as cool as it looks in the pictures.

On the other hand, it sounds great and it is the cheapest 64mb player you will find (counting the free 32mb smartcard with the rebate).

Anyway, if I had it to do over, I would try to find a Nomad II for a little more $$. Check Ebay or something. (Thats the player that I have, and I love it...good manager software, excellent sound and battery life, nice LCD, FM tuner, voice recording...)

Hope this helps.

I believe all the rebates expire today. And yes, the $50 rebate is only for the Techno Yepp.... a much better player IMO. Has all the features people listed above and is much cooler looking :) Also easy to swap out SM cards, almost as easy as a CD. Only thing that slows you down is the tiny size of the SM card. Its smaller, looks cooler, has LCD on the player as well as on the remote, has its own software (and RealJukebox as well), voice recording, AM-FM tuner (on the remote which I never use...it kills batteries!), and a few other features that I'm too lazy to list. Its worth the extra investment if you are serious about your music. Getting a cheapy mp3 player will only whet your appetite and leave you hungry for something better.

I like the SmartMedia expansion on this model though, I have some SmartMedia cards for my camera that'll work with this and I don't need an accessory for the SmartMedia like the Rio 600 or whatever it is. :)
