Thanks man, those all seem very readable...

No problem 🙂

I spent about 2 weeks looking at TV's and wound up being drawn back to the Vizio. They have came along way from when they first started selling TV's!

I wanted to get an extended warranty for the TV also. Being a plus member at Samsclub paying $29 for the 2 year extended warranty nets a total of 4yrs of warranty as they add 1yr for free as a benefit of being a plus member.

I did see some nice looking Samsung and LG's but they exceeded my budget!

The Samsung I am looking at is $699 but if you compare that to what it would cost me for a Dell 30" monitor, the 2nd GPU I would need, and upgraded PSU, I'm saving just over $1000...

Most likely I looked at that one when at Best Buy.

I hear ya on that one! One of the reasons why my monitor search went from a true monitor to a TV pretty quickly. I looked at a Samsung 27" LCD and it just looked so small for the price. Another $100 and your in the LED TV price range. So to me it was a no brainer!

Ebay Daily Deal - $399 with free shipping, not bad!

Also, a 570 will play anything at 2560x1600 just fine. My brother plays SC2 all the time on a 3007wfp at 2560x1600 with an 8800GT. Yea...

edit: Also might want to check the FS/FT forums, someone was selling U2711's (2560x1440) for $650

Well, I am done trying to use TVs as monitors. I got to hook up a PC that did 1920x1080 and the desktop and font was not CRISP, we tweaked it and it looked pretty good but just not what I wanted.

There IS a reason why 30" monitors cost so much and now I know why first hand...

It's kinda a giveme that a 30" monitor will look better than a TV used as a monitor due to it's higher resolution. Guess it boils down to how picky you and your eyes are and how much money your willing to spend. The biggest thing holding TV's back is 1080P max resolution. The larger you stretch 1080P the bigger the pixels which tends to make the image look worse. Sitting 8ft + away from a huge TV a person tends to not notice it tho.

The thing that really sucks about larger monitors is the lack of competition which tends to drive the prices up! Must be the current niche market for large monitors. Guess you could kinda compare it to how much LCD TV's used to cost. Maybe in a couple more years larger monitors with resolution beyond 1080P will be the norm....???
