Strolling through a particular store today, I saw a 26" (well, 25.5) Samsung monitor for $470. I shouldn't buy it, but is there a reason not to at this price? Most monitors at this size are $500 or more... I can't find much better of a price online. Are there better deals for monitors at this size?

I'm going by after work today to see if they still have it, I'm too tempted to not get it!

open box could mean it could have been a display model that was on all the time so the lamp life could be shortened if that was the case, or it simply could have been a return.

Well, I ended up holding off on it. I saw it at newegg for $500 shipped as dakels posted, so I decided to take time to think it out a bit more. My current monitor is holding up fine (19" Viewsonic CRT, my trusty workhorse of 10 years), so I think I'll wait a bit. I'm in love with the idea of a 26-27" monitor though considering the prices aren't *that* bad. I think if I've waited 10 years for a monitor, I deserve to go big ;)

Geno, just be aware, going to LCD, especially TN will be a drastic visual change then a 19" CRT. Make sure you know what to expect. I still keep my 19" NEC for special situations and color sensitive work.
