..driving down the price of all other 24-inch monitors.

Has what it takes, but no frills

Of course, a TN panel on such a large screen will have obvious viewing angle limitations.

I would think that the average consumer will not be aware of the picture difference between this and better *VA monitors and that fairly quickly, the prices of the *VA 24-inch monitors will have to come down.

...or that the better quality panels will start to disappear.

Anyway, does that price seem a little high considering the panel type

245Bs are finally out? geez, but im more interested in the 245T (a better version of the 244T with no input lag and other issues surrounding the 244T monitor)

If indeed the price of IPS/VA LCDs do come down as a result of this, then great.

But i bet you anything that's not what's gonna happen.

I suspect it's actually going to do the opposite.

Prices for good panels will stay high, as demand lessens for them, & all major manufacturers start pumping out sh!tastic 24"+ TNs.

Seriously, i see this as horrible news :(

Mmmm... You've got a point...

EDIT: At least, we know that there won't be a panel lottery on this one, as only Samsung makes a 24-inch TN panel, for now.

Well, look what happened with the 20" 1600x1200 IPS/VA panels vs. the 20/22" WS TN panels...

I suspect a repeat of that is about to happen w/ 24", which is scary, since you pretty much have to go 24" to get a good S-PVA/P-MVA these days.

So then where will we have to look to get a good LCD? 30" only?

i bought the doublesight with the samsung s-pva panel two days ago because i am worried about this very thing happening. i remember a year ago when i was about to buy a monitor almost, and i wanted a non-TN panel with better color reproduction, i had more choices in the smaller and even 24" range.

now a year later i see them going away and TN taking over. i figured i better get mine now before i have to spend way more than i want to, or can, later.

Is the DS any good ? Haven't heard of no one else who bought it.
