cheap TN panel. samsung is probably better than most. good deal if you like big monitors with quick response times, bad if you want accurate colors and wide viewing angles.

It may be a newer model ... but the 226bw has 2ms and dynamic contrast.

I thought the dynamic contrast was strange at first but I got very used to it and miss it now on other monitors.

I haven't had a chance to see the new one, however I have the 226BW and am flat-out in love with it. I've recommended it to several people, a few have even bought it and ended up liking it a lot too. It totally smoked my old Sceptre which had a 5 star Newegg rating and cost a little more (at the time).

One can usually find Acer 22inch ones for <$200 now. I love mine, and it has been consistently working well for a half a year or so now.

decent deal. viewing angles arent the greatest, but its good to surf the web and so on. gaming is good as well. i bought two, but i kinda wish that i had one of those and a 226bw as well for the color accuracy and wider view angles. for this panel, you can get a westing house 22w3 or w4 at a better price or even an acer.

What should you look for in a TN panel, and is there any way to tell in a store, or do you have to go the the mfg web site? Thanks.

It is NOT the new version of the 226bw. The new version of the 226bw is the 2232BW/GW. This is a lesser quality screen with build in speakers. Best Buy is having it on sale for $250 as well this week.

well all 22 inch panels are TN. to be honest for most people there is nothing wrong with a TN panel. the main times it would matter is if the lcd is going to be viewed from an angle a lot of the time, or if you are really into photo editing and graphic design stuff. besides that they still look tons better than a crt IMO. for gaming as long as you have a high enough respone time and not much input lag they are unbelieveable.

Not a bad deal for a Samsung (typically pricier). 1 year later and still no deal beats the Westinghouse 22" WS from last Thanksgiving ($189 and has component and composite inputs as well).

OfficeMax usually has the Soyo 24" at $299. It is not a TN and earlier builds seemed to have some QC issues. I purchsed mine on BF for $250 and it is stunning and absolutely flawless. No burning smell, buzzing or dead/frozen pixels. It does have limited inputs but you certainly get your $ worth.
