On the left side of the monitor, there is a thin vertical purple line that runs from top to bottom.
Initially, I thought it was an entire line of dead pixels, but upon closer inspection I think it is a case of the LCD screen not being fully covered by the frame of the monitor.
If I do a print-screen, the vertical line does not show up.
With a CRT monitor, if I had this problem, I could simply use adjust the horizontal position to 'slide' the picture to the left so that the line would be out of sight. But it is obviously different with an LCD monitor (this is my first LCD so I don't know a lot about them yet). In digital mode, this monitor doesn't even let you adjust the horizontal position at all.
While this does not cause any issues with the rest of the picture, it is extremely distracting. Do I have any options to fix it outside of sending it back to the factory for adjustment or replacement?
As a secondary issue, I have discovered that the SN on the monitor doesn't match the SN on the box; this makes me wonder if someone returned this monitor (was bought at CompUSA during a recent rebate period) and substituted this monitor in a switch scam (i.e. bought second monitor and then returned first monitor in the second monitor's box when they saw the monitor had issues).
Any help/comments are appreciated.
