Samsung 2053BW & ATI HD 3200 IGP

Hi:

As title, I'm trying to get 1280x800 resolution out of this combination, but I just can't find the setting in display settings, there are other setting like 1280x768, 1280x960, 1366x768, etc, but just no 1280x800.

The native resolution of Samsng 2053BW is 1680x1050 (16/10), so I wanted to set it at 1280x800 (also 16/10) so the fonts can scale properly.

I'm using the analog connection.

If 1280x800 is not a native resolution of the monitor or IGP video, can it be added via registry? If yes, how?

And how do I tell whether it's the monitor or HD 3200's fault that I can't set it at 1280x800?

Thanks!!!

I'd say a little bit of both. The OS or driver just isn't reading the monitor's attributes properly, or perhaps your monitor doesn't support that resolution. You could always try forcing the issue...

Go to the Windows Display properties.
Click on Advanced.
Go to the Monitor tab.
Uncheck the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display"
And see if you can select 1280x800.

Under the Catalyst Control Center (in advanced view):
Select the "Monitor Properties" -> "Attributes" in the left pane
Uncheck the EDID box
Hit the Apply button.
Now select the "Displays Manager" in the left pane.
And see if you can select 1280x800.
