Samsung 2033sw, Giga 945GCM-S2L & rad 4350 no 1600x900 res ?

My neighbour just bought a Samsung 2033sw+ monitor and Sapphire 4350 graphics card. He has a Gigabyte GA-945GCM-S2L mobo. He uses a VGA cable.

With the onboard graphics, works OK.

But with the graphics card ( 9.9 catalyst ), both windows XP and 7 do not list the native resolution 1600x900. Higher & lower res are listed.

I have seen 1600x900 working with 4850 + G31 and 4350 + P35.

Any idea why ?

Edit : Monitor was defective.
