Officemax has the samsung 205bw 20" lcd on sale for $279 in their sunday paper. Take this paper into compusa and do a PM. Compusa has it for $299 after $50 MIR.

This would make your final total $230 for the Samsung.

If they do give you the PM but wont give you the rebate forms just print them out from their site.

Previously there was a deal similar to this, but compusa turned me down because AR their price was cheaper than OM, but not anymore. I'd like to see their excuse now.

Some reviews at Newegg.com here

Here's what the website says about it:

The Samsung 205BW features an ultra-wide 9:5 aspect ratio and 1680 x 1050 resolution, so you can get more on your monitor than ever before. You also get a fast 6 ms response time, 700:1 contrast ratio and 160-degree viewing angles, so your images aren't just bigger, they're better. Exclusive MagicBright?, MagicColor? and MagicTune? technologies enable easy image personalization, while a narrow bezel design and height-adjustable stand with portrait/landscape pivot deliver a clean, custom look. The Samsung 205BW. Feel free to spread out.

# Viewable area: 20"
# Brightness (Typical): 300 cd/m2
# Native Resolution: 1680 x 1050
# Contrast Ratio (Typical): 700:1
# Viewing Angle (Typical)(H/V): 160°/160° (CR>5)
# Interface: Analog/Digital

204bw is the non widescreen version of this panel. ALthough it is a TN panel, TN has actually improve over the last few years and this is a pretty good price for this lcd.

Actually 204BW is a wide screen, but 204B is not.
It seems 205BW has better spec than 204BW.
16.2 mil v 16.7 mil
0.285 mm v 0.258 mm
75W max v 55W max etc.

i think the TN panels show only x amount of true colors and then dither in the others. i have been running a TN panels for quite some time and can't tell a difference and like it more than the decent crt it replaced. who knows, maybe my eyes aren't that good, but to me it looks excellent :)

where did you get it for $179AR? did it involve camping out?

I went into staples today when it opened. I was last in line. I get to these monitors, and there are TONS! And I bet there are still a bunch there.
My staples was packed, but they also had no shortage

Yeah online they show that janky Video7 V-series 19" for $129. Our local B&M store flyer shows the 20" Samsung for $179.

Actually I bought one of the V-series for a client recently for $100 after coupons and rebates. It was OK for general use, but only a 1 year warranty. The Samsung 205BW has a 3 year warranty.

I ordered all my Staples stuff online this morning and it looks like except for a couple items most are still available online even now.

I picked up one of the Samsung 205BW's at the local store this afternoon. They still had a large pile of them.

On the first one I got the screen had a stuck Green pixel close to the center of the screen. In reality it was about this big.

.

But in my mind it looked this big:

O

I just exchanged it a few moments ago and I'm hoping for the best. I can't deal with a stuck Green or Red pixel. They look like lasers to me.

Exchanged for new unit, installed and calibrated. Made it past the first, teeth clenching, turn on. Fired up with an all black screen (whew, no lit pixels)

There is a group of 2 dead pixels on the extreme right of the screen. Not ideal, but they are not that big of an issue for me. Dead off to the side I can live with, lit or dead (especially lit) in the middle I cannot. I wish they would let you plug in monitors at the store to check for lit/dead pixels.

So far I am happy with the display. Not outstanding, not crap, worth the $145 I gave for it for sure. The display area is the same height as the 8 year old 19? Trinitron 4x3 it replaced but, of course, quite a bit wider.

For the price I paid I'm happy, but certainly would look elsewhere if I had to pay the current street price of ~$320, delivered.

I just can't beleive how much desk space I have now. Who-hoo.

Anyone with stuck/dead pixels can try UDPixel, worth a shot.
Anywho, I also see a Viewsonic VX2035WM 20" for $245 at ZZF.
It is another TN but aren't they (sale/rebate/coupon items) all?!

TN film panels: summarized from TFTCentral

Widely implemented in many TFT?s today, especially mid to low end screens. Low manufacturing costs. Not very good at displaying blacks. Pixels die and become a bright colour. Restrictive viewing angles. Fastest pixel response times, with "overdrive" grey to grey transitions becoming faster.
