The monitor looks good. I put one out today with DVI going in, and it looks marvelous for its price. Only thing is the cheap plastic shell used on the monitor and stand, leave something to be desired, it feels cheaper than last years, but you dont really notice it since the lcd itself is pretty nice.

thats what i needed to know really 🙂. you need to tell me a bit more about the colors and the quality. is dithering very noticable? give me a good evaluation of it.

i think im gonna head over to a b&m store to check it out, though they tend to use a multimonitor device that doesn't really tell me much about the image quality.

i went over to several b&m stores, but they all had them hooked up to a bad multimonitor device so i couldn't really say as far as quality. i think i may just pick one up anyway since 360 after taxes and rebates is awfully nice for a quality lcd with 8ms response (despite 6-bit)

I hooked it up to a media center with DVI 1280x1024, and the dithering is hardly noticeable. It looks quite good, but most people will use it for games....which you won't notice the color degredation much during that anyways.

alexjohnson11. thanks for great new update lineups.

about the color; how much difference does 16.2Mand 16.7M make??? is it really important. If 930B with 6 bit and 940B with 8bit as Reiniku says, or guessing; I rather wait and pay little more for 940B if there isnt much price difference. Monitor is something you going to keep for 5-7 yrs.

I think the biggest difference would be the viewing angle. It's a 160/160 monitor.
Samsung usually has 2 similar models. One for gaming with a smaller viewing angle or fewer colors. The other not so gaming with wider view and more colors.

Personally I don't do much gaming so I got the non-gaming models (I have the older 712n's and a 912n). The gaming version of the 712n was the 710n or x I don't recall)

the interesting thing about the new lineup of samsungs is that the 940b, which would probably be considered the nongaming version of the monitor has the same 8ms response time. There are too few details on new lineup, with only their main specs listed with nothing about color listed.

I mean its 6 bit vs 8 bit. The others in the thread mention that it has lower color quality because of the type of panel. Not a big deal tho.

I see. It didn't feel like too much of an issue while I was viewing it at the B&M stores, but it seemed to pale in comparison to the NEC 1970GX, which they happen to sit it next to. Those Opticlear (glossy HIGHLY reflective) surfaces make for excellent contrast and color, I was quite blown away. Then again it comes out 150-200 dollars more than the price I would get the 930B at.

It doesn't. The L90D+ is 16.2.

I finally caved and bought this and am really happy with it. There is only one thing about it that's bugging me. I'd like to know if any of the other people who bought it have a slight backlight bleeding when displaying all black.

I'm really tempted to buy this at BB. However, I'd also like to point out that the BB deal is a single $90 rebate, while the CC deal is a $70 and a $20 rebate. If you buy this week, BB is the way to go, but the $70 CC rebate is good through the end of this month.

So if you're like me, and sitting on the fence with this monitor, you can still get a pretty good deal through the end of this month at CC.

I got this monitor and am quite satisfied with it except for my little backlight issue... which may not even be an issue. It's a very small degree of bleeding and I'm curious if its even worth going back to Best Buy. Since I've always seen bleeding on all the LCD's I've worked on, I don't even know what it would look like without backlight bleeding. Other than that the monitor is GREAT and gaming couldn't be better.

How did you guys get 930B price down to 330-350??? is that Total/Final cost??!!. Example; From BB $469 + tax (newyork about 8%) = 506.52. And then $90 Mail rebate makes it Total cost of $416.52

staples has extra $30 coupon, which i cant find anywhere still comesout tobe $384.12. Where can i find this $30 coupon??? im rightnow looking all newspaper ads and index finger is already all black

if without tax $469 - $90 rebate = $380 -$30 (staples) = $350

noticed that while viewing the specs on samsung.com >_<, 16.7 on the LD90+ right (was hoping it would at least match it -- wanted all black :b)

You should read the reviews of these monitors before you judge them, color reproudction with this panel is excellent despite the apparant weakness. Its actually better than some 8bit panels.

Although the reviews tend to favor the Hyundai due to the better ergonomics, performance wise they should be pretty much identical.

I'm actually very impressed by the color reproduction. I'm rather peeved at the backlight bleeding and am trying to figure out if its worth the effort to bring back, have them not see the problem because it's so bright in their tech department, complain about it, then finally get a replacement that may still have the problem or even a dead pixel.

Reiniku If you are unsatify and it keeps bother you then no question about it. Return it and get a different one or get full refund. If backlight problem occurs in second one then thats how it is i guess

If you mean the white border around the edges, then yes i have the same.
larger on the right and bottom of the lcd.

Only on AT could such a cool deal get 46 (now 47) replies. Sigh!

Read my lips... 19" - $300, 17" - $200.

Goodnight!

Not to be thread crapping but I am running the 930b in dual mode with a dell 1905 FP as I write. If you want to see the difference between 6bit and 8bit panels it is very obvious when running side by side. You can tell that the 6 bit panel is working overtime to produce those 500,000 + colors it is trying to fake you out of. Just got the Dell today, thought the Samsung color was excellent until I set up the Dell. Not a real big gammer but will try a few on the Dell tonight. If ghosting is as minimal as they claim, 930b goes back to Staples tomorrow. Only paid 268.00 for Dell including tax + shipping. No rebates to deal with.
