$88 without rebate is about $30 more than the price with the rebate


Thus, to avoid the rebate, you have to pay about a $30 premium on the drive.

The Samsung 160GB gives you one of the best $/GB along with good performance and a three warranty. The price is pretty good for this drive considering zipzoomfly has it for 94$ with free 2nd day. With Newegg, its 89$ with ground shipping. It may not be a hot deal, but it's not a bad deal.

I'd perfer a 8mb buffer myself, but this might make a good backup/secondary drive.

Really? It's been a while since I've seen the Maxtor Ultra Retail 160GB go on sale at my local Fry's...here's hoping you're right since I missed out on the Staples deal.
